Hello Gentlemen,

Something happened over the last few months that has forced me to reconsider the way I view women, especially young(15-40) women. Lemme explain...

I am 21 and studying in one of premiere engineering institutes in my country. I have a more or less isolated social life, a close circle of 3-4 people who get high together and enjoy the same music and stuff - you get the idea. I'd like to believe, and this has been backed by my grades, that I have above average intelligence, at least in STEM field. Over the last half a year, me and a girl, let's call her GEM, have been really close friends. She has been recovering from several controlling relationships and I had been there to help her through it.

It went to the point where we were texting all day, and talking over the phone for 1-2 hours every night. I helped her write her many term papers, let her cheat off me in exams, sacrificed time I should've spent studying and doing random shit helping her. For example, I had an exam on a Monday at 8AM, and I was up till 1.30AM Sunday night(or Monday morning, whatever floats your boat) writing her term paper. She would act all flirty and happy and touchy with me. Funnily, I didn't even have these subjects so I had learn about the topics and then help her, double the effort. But no worries, I helped her out. And slowly I fell in love with her. At the end of May, both of us left for different companies for summer jobs.

Here comes the part which made me believe MGTOW. As soon as I was out of her sight, she stopped talking to me. She knew I had a history of self harm and depression and yet she refused to talk over the phone with me. I repeatedly asked her to. Then one day she texts me how she has been sleeping with this guy she met a week ago. And that is when I lost it. I was the one who helped her get better, went with her to the hospital, to the psychiatrist, stayed up late nights for no other reason than to make her feel better, and trust me it was pretty clear I liked her. Yet she didn't choose me.

Right now, I only have any kind of respect for very few women - my mum, my grandmother, and a good friend from school who has always helped me.

My lads, I don't know what to do. My friend keeps telling me that I should remain friends with GEM cus we can support each other, but she makes me question my sanity. Was I not a good guy? Did I not sacrifice my time for her? What did I do wrong? Granted, I am not the most masculine man out there, but I believe I had earned the chance to at least be considered as boyfriend material.

I think she just used me. And know she keeps in slight contact with me because we have a few courses in common next year and she will need my help.

What do y'all think I should do?

Cheers.

Edit: I have blocked her and cut off all contact. I meant to ask what do y'all think and anything else I should do?
