So these women are refusing to even consider dating or marrying men who earn less then them or are less educated but the article still tries to spin it as the men being equally at fault for supposedly refusing to date women who make more than them. I, nor any other man I know of, would turn down an eligible potential partner solely because she made more money. The article reeks of projection and the all-too-common inability of women to accept responsibility for their own choices.

Some comments:

Not a lot of details regarding methods/etc, not peer-reviewed, no citations. I'll take what is presented at face value, but this isn't super-strong stuff.
Obvious tradcon institutional bias here - BYU. This really stands out towards the end of the article, but the first half is relatively data-oriented.
The way they do the analysis doesn't strictly tell you about motivations. They pose it in terms of what women are looking for, and even go further and talk about what men are looking for (though that wasn't the focus of this data). However, I think a better way of describing it is comparing the sorts of men who end up married to the sorts of women who are married but similar to the sorts of women who are single.
I don't see any evidence to support "there is strong evidence of hypergamy with men seeking out a spouse you is younger and has less education." Maybe it was in their data and not presented, but you can't infer that from the one table they show.
"...college provides an environment where dating and courting are rather inexpensive, with lots of fun and free activities offered on campuses." Uh, sure, if you go ahead and ignore the fact that BYU charges $18k/yr tution+room/board.

From there it just goes full tradcon. The biggest worry they bring up is that kids might interfere with school. Uh, having kids in college? Yeah, we must be talking about BYU here.

Getting married in college is nuts. As soon as you get out into the real world everything about your lives is going to change, and that can cause all kinds of major relationship issues. Maybe that wonderful girl who didn't mind spending time with you doing all those "free activities" isn't the same once you have to spend 50 hours per week working in the real world, and you can't just put your expenses on your student loans and worry about paying them off later. On the flip side maybe that wonderful guy who is so fun on campus doesn't actually want to get a real job after graduation. It cuts both ways.

I tell every young person I meet to not even think about getting married in college because it simply isn't the real world, and everything you think you know about life changes six months after you graduate.

But, LDS has their little social bubble they're trying to preserve here. To some degree it actually works. If that couple is afraid of being cast out by everybody they are friends with they might not be so willing to get a divorce. That is how things used to work, but I don't know that a theocracy is a great tradeoff to restore the tradcon paradise...

when i lived in houston, i knew (and dealt with) many, many career-driven, strong & independent, "i don't need a man (right now)," women... of several ages, races, and backgrounds. they are EVERYWHERE in houston, tx.

when they asked, "where are all the good men?" i almost always replied: "why are you looking for them? you don't need them, you don't respect them, you're gonna make it without them... so here's the number to the local sperm bank."

i have NO FUCKING CLUE why those types of women think their cars, houses, education, and careers make them MORE attractive and deserving of the top 2% of ALL men.

Most career women I've met are total cunts and used up hags. Way too intense in general. They can't lock down the man they want and when and if they do settle they usually treat their husband like an employee with no value. Hypergamy is still strong, if they run into a CEO watch how quickly they spread their legs. Ultimately this is also doomed to fail because the CEO types aren't interested in the woman past anything sexual anyway.

A woman I know who worked for a company that developed robotics turned me down 10 years ago. She also did some modeling on the side. Was built like Christina Hendricks. She got pumped and dumped by LEO (that was her thing) and smashed into the wall hard. Easily added 150 lbs in a year. No BS the last time I saw her one flight of stairs left her winded and I could hear her breathing across the movie theatre I was in. Went through two failed marriages within three years. Called me up. Hard nope. Almost starting crying because she can't even get pumped and dumped anymore. Of course her standards have increased and she wants something "real".
