She had a better opportunity and went with it. Doesn't matter if they were married 30 or 300 years, awalt is still awalt.
I want to say that not all women would destroy their son's life like that but I'm not so sure anymore, the stories on this sub keep getting worse and worse...

And it's gonna be that way. I don't think it's gonna change anytime soon. Until the apocalypse comes, we're still fucked. And I'm waiting for that day......

Damn, your mom is a piece of shit. Why did she take the money? Any justified reason or she just wanted cash for herself?
That's how all women react when they know you are right and they have no argument. Getting emotional and violent is their way to end conversations and arguments they know they lost instead of just letting go of their ego and admitting they are wrong.

I don't see how emptying the sons collage fund makes sense from a biological perspective. Taken into count that they have been married 30+ years, she is at least 48, probably in her mid '50s. There is a high probability she can't get more children, and even if she can, the risk that they won't be as healthy as her current child is immense. Her best strategy would be to invest resources in her current child (from a pure biological perspective ofc).

Unless it was literally set up as a "trust" (in which case she probably wouldn't have even had access to the funds) then very likely... no.

Yup, and if they wanted to, they could relatively easily have put the funds into a revocable or even irrevocable "trust" account of some type -- on which THEY (the "parents" aka the grandparents of the child) could have remained the "trustee(s)"; and even designated someone else as "successor trustee" in the event of their passing.
-- And this is actually incredibly EASY to do with a variety of "savings" type accounts -- much easier than say putting a house/land into a "trust" (although THAT really isn't all that difficult to do either, just costs a few bucks).
-- BTW doubtless the reason why the [grand]parents didn't do that is that they themselves are probably from a generation where a wife doing what this woman did... was literally "unthinkable" to them; even now, their brains probably struggle to accept that she DID do it.
So not so much "dumbasses" as incredibly "naive."
