This is something that has always bothered me even when I was a kid. It has always be said that females mature faster/earlier than males but that has not necessarily be my experience. We mature differently, but not at different rates.

Girls hit puberty on average 2 years earlier than boys. It that very narrow window girls can be considered more mature than boys. Boys catch up and bypass girls in a few years in all aspects of maturity, both physical and mental.

This stems from a biological necessity, namely the female fertility window is much shorter.

Why this is presented in a way to disparage men is beyond me.
