Today at the gym I overheard two guys talking about tattoos. One of them was praising an artist who made him a large arm tattoo for 700euros instead of what he said was a normal cost : 3000euros.

I don't get tattoos. Like at all. It's insane to me that someone would spend that much money on irreversibly altering his skin.

CONSIDER THIS

The only purpose of tattoos originally was to signal tribal rank/caste/accomplishment and nothing else. It was the only way mentally stunted savages had to communicate because they had no language or ability to determine friend from foe. Tattoo's are LITERALLY name tags for retards living in caves. However, that all changed when some societies advanced enough to have written language, and no longer used cave walls to tell their stories or pass on knowledge, and so the tribal marking was left behind because it was no longer needed or useful. The only cultures that retained their use were the ones who never advanced beyond the stone age.

When the advanced European nations began to explore the globe and colonize Africa and South America they encountered all these stone age tribes who were still stuck in that pre-historic age because their IQ's are so low that it was impossible for them to advance beyond such simple communication and catch up to the Europeans, and even today there are still many places in Africa and South America that have not changed in any way over the past 1,000+ years.

At some point during all of that a few European sailors/pirates thought it was cool so they "got inked" to intimidate people, or show off, or set themselves apart somehow. Over time it became a mark of some type of military status mostly in the old world European Naval fleets and that eventually filtered out to the other branches. Good soldiers were highly prized, well respected, paid well, and sought after by females at the time.

Now it's just the way dumb punks try to gain street cred as criminals/thugs or some other "outlaw group" to prove how tough and non-conformist they are when the reality is they are just telling everyone they are a mentally stunted savage

I have 1 tattoo. Its a 3" infinity loop with my Grandmother's initials in the center. It's on my right forearm so I see it everyday and remember her.
