People should be afraid of dying without dignity, not alone.

Being in a vegetative state and get sucked by big pharma of your life savings and your loved one's life savings is much worse than death. Even a decade long life of being bed-bound or wheelchair-bound before finally succumb to death is still a nightmare that is much scarier than dying alone. Not to mention dementia, Parkinson, diabetes, there are much worse things happening to old people, dying alone is not one of them.

Those who are afraid of dying alone are just naive children who have not seen the cruelty of life. There are many fates worse than death. At times these will make you wish you can shot yourselves in the head alone.

Dying with Alzheimer's,

Dying bed ridden where I have to call someone to wipe shit from my ass,

Dying crippled with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and/or terminal cancer.

I'd rather have a 9mm retirement plan than live through those hells. I hope my sister has enough sense to let that happen.

I've seen alot of relatives suffer from bad health decisions and some from old age, and I don't want to suffer through those things...or survive and be half alive. That's what I'm afraid of.

To answer your question: they're asking men that because men are the ones willingly going into solitude to avoid bullshit. Because men are the only ones able to seek solitude, instead of facing it. So they worry that this might be a trend and, oy vey, the real estate, dating, and marriage markets won't survive if that's the future men choose, so we better shut it down!

I just got bitched out by a dude on another site about this very thing. Except, he said that without a wife, ill have no one to care for me in my old age. And I'm going to be the weird, single, creepy uncle showing up to family events. Lol I told him that it's funny that he's relying on a woman sticking around life long enough to be there for him at geriatric age....not to mention, he's hoping that she actually gives a shit enough to provide care/assistance to him. I knew when I was married I was going to die alone. She is so emotionally cold and self centered, my ex wouldn't be sitting by my bedside as I took my last breaths. She'd be running errands, tidying up the house, at a seniors Yoga class or at happy hour with friends. The thought that she would sacrifice her free time to sit by my bedside is laughable. ( EDIT: Also she'd be lecturing me that I should have worked out more and eaten a better diet)

I've been dying alone since the 60s; many years I was dying alone abroad. Dying alone while working for large corporations, doing drugs, skiing downhill, giving talks, writing articles, rocking the boat. I will continue dying alone until my last sigh. Men should always ask how much a woman can contribute to their lives. The answer might be disturbing for many.
