That's obviously the UK. Unfortunately British people in general are very pro-female police and if you criticize it expect a shitstorm from most British people.

Many British people claim that female police are vital because they can diffuse a violent situation with their "feminine charms" where a male police man can not.

That is absolute rubbish because in reality a weak police woman is likely to just enrage the criminal even more and make him feel his masculinity is being challenged by a weak woman attempting to arrest him, hence making him more violent.

Hier in Germany amidst the refugee crisis we had a couple Showcase policewomen coming on talkshows explaining how the refugees refuse any order from them becuase they are women and they are basically powerless without male assistance.

Each time the moderators and other talkshow guests commended them for being so brave, with big audience applause and I was just sitting there like

There's nothing inherently wrong with women in these jobs, but most people would rather argue that Person X should be able to to Job Y no matter what genitalia they have. I know female officers that can drop a 200 lb muscular guy without the use of anything but their hands, so to think all female cops are frail little things is utterly ridiculous.

I'm about as liberal as they come and I don't care about the shape of your genitals, so long as you can do the job.

Nobody objects to female officers/firefighters/etc. They object to lowering standards to accommodate them because those standards are there to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the person doing the job.

If some chick can run into a burning house, throw me over her shoulder, and get me to safety, then I'm happy to have her. If she can't, then get me someone who can.

Whoever meets the standards can have the job. Just don't lower the standards because they're important.

I was not conversing about quality of work, I was trying to understand why this man thinks liberalism is a severe mental disorder.

As for not taking the dude down, pure incompetence, yes. But that can be trained away with enough time and effort.

Cops should be trained in martial arts consistently, like what taiwan and korea do. They force their police forces to learn TKD(in korea), and probably some form of muay thai or jiu jitsu in taiwan. It's the most effective way of taking people down without much permanent damage.

The original post is an unqualified employee, the people in the thread are discussing the unqualified employee and you are jumping in with "equal opportunity". If the opportunity were equal and the police force had been hiring on merit rather than on diversity this police officer would not have gotten the job. I agree with you on that police officer would not have been hired, but if they're truly driven to be a good police officer, they'd learn some techniques which is clearly what they haven't done.

I want equal opportunities, but it's up to the people themselves to rise up and challenge themselves to be better than their peers. I choose to love everybody as I believe at heart, everyone is a decent human being, but a lifetime of suffering tends to obscure that.

The hiring of this female police officer took the position away from another candidate who was more suited for the position with better potential and capability. To add more training for this female would take resources that could have been used to train the better candidate to be even better.

I am fully against limiting what people can say, but sometimes, people are dicks and need to respect others around them. If someone asks me to say they/them instead of she/hers, I'll oblige, but creating a law for that? Fuck no.

I'm left leaning because I want massive increases in funding to education and sciences and the fine arts, along with the basic human right of healthcare. I had great opportunities as a child with a good fine arts program and a high quality public school, not everyone has that.

The chance should be offered, but there will be people who reject those chances and go off and ruin their lives. That's on them. They have freedom of choice, but the opportunity is constant across all individuals.

Liberal and liberty do come from the same Latin word, liber(free), I'll give you that.

That being said I think your heart is in the right place but the solutions are completely wrong. The education system as it stands is slightly underfunded yet completely broken but the best thing that could happen is if we privatized it completely and only threw money at it to create competition. Increasing state funding to pretty much anything has proven time and time again to be a bad idea.

Thank you. I try to remain civil and love everyone regardless of their position or what they are throwing at me, unless it's punches.

You offer insights to the other side, but I'll need to do research into it to make a more informed decision. I don't like to take things at face value without understanding why that position is held. I'll change my views if new information and data is found, unlike some people on both sides of the political spectrum.

The fix is to have a list of priorities enshrined into a country's Constitution so that no gov or succession of govs can fuck it up... Basically the highest law in the country should say that public spending has to be in the following order: 1st health (cause you can't do anything if you're dead/ying) , 2nd social care(cause you can't do anything if you're starving and looking like a sack of bones) , 3rd housing (cause you have to sleep somewhere to live, basic human right) , 4th education (cause now you've got house/health/food so you can go study and prepare for future work) , 5th farming/industry/job creation (cause you've got the 4 already covered, now go work to supply them 4), ONLY AFTER these 5 are covered by budget, then you can spend money of fucking petunias and park benches and the usual local council screwthepublic rackets andd buy as many dumb things with the left over money. And if the left over money is $1.29 fit the entire country then that's it.

In my experience most Brit's have a low opinion of the police. But I couldn't help noticing that he was cuffed from behind. Apparently the UK male police officers are suffering with the huge influx of female officers. Once they start having kids and refusing to do night shifts or going part time and refusing to do extra hours/work overtime, get given the cushty office roles which would of normally been a reward for the male officers for doing their time out in the field. All which forces the male officers to do the bulk of the anti social hours and pick up the slack.

Friend of mine is a cop. She'll get preferential treatment and a comfy, high-pay promotion to detective or other position just so the high brass can get her off the streets without the press calling policework sexist for firing an officer that can't do their job.

Even though men have to be in the dept, out on the street for years to even be eligible for the same promotions.

I was a going through a fire academy when I was in the Air Force. We had to do a drill where we had to pick up a 185 lb dummy off the ground and fireman carry it around a few different obstacles and complete it in a certain amount of time. Most of the guys completed it relatively easily. A few of the smaller guys struggled but got it done. The one girl in our class spent 10 minutes wrestling with this dummy on the ground until the point she was exhausted and crying defeated never even getting the dummy off the floor. Guess what, they pushed her through anyway then made her the leader of the class.

Basically yes.

Everyone would get what they want: people would do their job as it's supposed to be done, others pushing for equality wouldn't complain because they'd have their own units, and plus there would be a clear comparison which would show the differences between the units (and implicitly between men and women).

I think people both in the field and in the general population are just afraid to speak up in order to appear mysogynistic, but setting up a clear example would hopefully convince more people that this whole "gender is a social construct" is not based on reality.
