Hmmm as far as i know, they were saying that for the 2030 mission to mars they were considering to send couples or people that felt comfortable with each other (male and female) and could become couples.... Mars is only one way trip... We can't bring them back once landed, so the idea i heard it was for them to stay there and if they thrive, to reproduce and begin a colony. Being realistic, that's the only option. Send them support and food until they have hidroponics and can grow their own food. The candidates that were speaking in the interview i saw were well aware of this and that its a one way and were ok with that ide. Who wouldn't? Even if you die of old age, you will become the first martian. You will remain in history as a pioneer who went where no one has been before and did the impossible. That's a great way to die and be remembered

A few years ago I was asking friendly women I met in conversation, “have you ever worked in an all-female workplace?” And when they had, I asked “how was it?” I’m not making this up, the response always ranged from rolling their eyes at the bullshit of it, to expressing a muted horror at it.

I bet there’s exceptions. Maybe a group of female ex-air force fighter pilots and aeronautics engineers and doctors etc. would be a great mix. But that little unscientific poll led me to think that a mixed work environment is better. I’ve never worked in an all-male work environment but I would personally be into trying that as well.
