Even the best ones aren't iron clad.
You bet your ass the best divorce lawyers in the world were slavering over the potential windfall from taking the Bezos case on, regardless of which side they were representing.
This is a once in a lifetime, career defining moment.
We're talking about the Michael Jackson, professional sports athlete, movie star caliber of lawyers.
The firm that wins becomes the A-Team you hire or keep on retainer - if you can afford it.
A) Defend Bezos, the richest man in the world against the current divorce laws in the US (plus my exorbitant fee, of course, because c'mon, it's Bezos).
B) Prosecute Bezos, the richest man in the world, to get a sizeable chunk of his wealth for my client (plenty of which will go towards my exorbitant fee, of course, because it's Bezos).
The press is a free advertising bonus. Thanks for putting my full name in every article, news brief, and talking head TV show across the country. My price just went up 300%.
Two possible things happened here:
Either Bezos brought the biggest, baddest guns and simply annihilated her. The fact she walked away with even that much was testament to the killers she had on her side.
Or... the lawyers on both sides did a deep dive into how Amazon grew into the monstrous company we all know today. Then, a judge decided that the portrayal of his ex wife's entitlement was accurate and the payout was commensurate to her actual contribution.
Does she know how to code?
How about her business savvy?
How many big deals did she secure?
My money is on B.
The articles laud the idea that she helped build the company.
I'd put my money on the lawyers finding out that her effort was basically staying out of the way and raising the kids she wanted - four of them, because that's one hell of an anchor.
Don't forget she was a "novelist" who wrote only two books. Being married to Bezos is bar none the most exceptional thing she's ever done.
Now, after divorce, she's now one of the wealthiest women on the planet:

I've learned from many instances that having business partners is usually a bad idea in general. Really the only person you can completely trust to put their 110% into a project you have envisioned is yourself, when you give half of that burden/responsibility to somebody else, it just adds more moving parts and more opportunities for human error, sloth, greed, incompetence.
[–]TerminalSect3215 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Facts.
[–]__PORK__5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've been burned by partners even in a hobby. The best case is to outsource to like-minded people. There's no conflict in decision making since the sole client is usually always right. To keep costs down, rather than customized services just find someone providing a platform, e.g. packaged webhosting for MGTOWs, etc.
[–]Nevek_Green38 points39 points40 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
How do people not learn this lesson by the end of High School. It was fairly obvious in elementary school that partners would do little work and take the credit as if they'd done the majority of the work and you'd slacked off. By Highschool that lesson was so obvious it wasn't funny.
[–]ParalyticPoison35 points36 points37 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Because that would require independent thought. A thing that is strictly prohibited in the public indoctrination prisons we call public schools. Everyone is equal remember? Your partners are not lazy fuckers, you are just overly judgmental and egotistical, now finish that thesis on why the pay-gap is sexist, Billy!

Because it is like this: - one guy sits on the couch texting - one guy makes food for himself from your fridge - two guys won't concentrate but talk bullshit all day long - one guy kind of wants to help but only in the way - one guy who does not even care about the whole fucking thing only criticises when you finished - one guy does not even show up - you finish all their work alone yourself.
1 person (you) learned never to work with others unless absolutely necesarry. 7 guys learned that group work is awesome since they got an awesome grade without moving their fingers and just chilling together at a friend's house.
[–]Nevek_Green1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Funny enough after the first time I learned that others would steal my credit while denying me the joys of actually doing the bits of the project I avoided working in groups as much as possible. Love your description as it sounds so right its a tune. I can remember one particular instance, don't remember the project but the other student kept not doing his end of the work so I went to the teach and demanded we be separated as I wasn't giving him credit for my work.
The pieces of shit in school really helped illustrate expectations of the real world. Never hate the hard times, they prepare you for the worse times.

Back when I was in 9th grade, the school invested in projectors for each room. And we were told to use it. We had to make a lot of power point presentations, videos, collages and other creative stuff. The thing is even before going to highschool I have had a lot of experience with Sony Vegas and Gimp and just a little bit of animation technology. Also I was home when it came to internet culture and sarcastic dark humor. And the class loved my humor. Teachers would give extra homework to make presentations about a lenghty topic as punishment. And it really was for many, as they were really shy. But owning those presentations actually made a name for me during highschool. I used my mom's quality camera and what I learned from them to shoot from good angles, and I detailed the videos when editing with all sorts of easter eggs. Same I did with the pictures. It was a really good way to get the attention of the class, who were constatly looking for hidden edited funny or offensive parts on pictures or frames. But I made sure never to react to those who point them out and also to keep the line of what is too much. And by being into cosplay I knew my way around basic woodwork and basic electronics. So if there was a way to replicate or modell something I ran the extra mile just to make it more interactive. I really liked when I got the whole 45 minutes of the class for myself. And after a while it was so loved that the class voted to stay for the break to let me finish.
Up until that one time I had to work in a group. We had 3 months for a 15-20 munites small film. We planned all ahead that afternoon. I went out, bought all the materials needed. But we'd have had to do 2 weeks of preparation. All of us, which they skipped. I kept ringing the bell that we should start it. But they kept writing me off. I made my part weeks before the deadline, they said they'd be fine. Until the day before deadline at 4p.m. when they freaked out. I was called the asshole for being ready while they are at nowhere and me not doing something about it...
I told them and the teacher that it was the last time I worked in a group.

For an ongoing business... not a chance.
[–]kek-20202 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Could you elaborate more? I do house flips and apartment complex investing.
Do you like to use equity partners or just stick to deals you can finance yourself?
[–]LotBuilder2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Equity partners in the form of a single entity LLC for each separate projects. We are typically doing infill projects ranging from 15-80 homes or townhouses. I like to buy the land in cash (from equity partners) then use construction loans to build out. If shit goes sideways we still own the land and only risk losing 2/3 lots at any time.
I’m the managing member and majority owner. I make all the calls and they are passive investors.
[–]TheLastMgtow7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Bro. I agree so much with that. And i think most mgtows feel exactly like that.
But lets be honest, you might be a Lion yourself, but many hienas together will beat you.
So my conclusion is that we can hardly compete.
The system is made to make all men divided. We think all other men are simps that we cant trust. That works great for the establishment. We cant never rise from that.
The fact we want to prevail on our own, puts us at serious disadvantage. Most things get done in teams, and although you might have the motivation of a beast, the simps will win by numbers, even if they are not productive. Even if they are cucked and get divorced, and lose half of their shit.
I still have hope that one day i will succeed alone, by cheer determination. I know i can be more productive than them, but they are too many.
[–]TheNewJay1230 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Lions lead the pride. Ya take those SIMPs and make them work. You take the lions share and they get to survive. Working with other prides can be rough and dangerous but its all part of the risk vs reward.
[–]TheLastMgtow0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ok. So basically i should become a sigma that enslaves other men and profits from it? Because the simps actually deserve it... Right? This makes me very confused. But i guess you are right. Maybe ill change my attitude. And instead of insisting in my lone wolf meritocrat path. I can try something else. Although i think that is morally wrong, and destructive. But maybe thats the days we are living. Too many simps. Rather just make a good business, and hire those simps, that are married and will work 24/7 for their families.

Indeed, so many great companies started out as small teams
Yup. Had a "partner" who made huge drama because I wanted to share profit by the actual effort we put into the project. Mind you, our time would be worth equally. No. He wanted a fixed % no matter what.
The icing on a cake is, I actually went along with it to save his ass (complicated story). Result? He doesn't speak to me anymore, because "I showed my true colors".

Married men, and men in LTR the most unreliable people out there. They will run from fights, because they have a family to look after, so you cant count on them. They will backstab you at the drop of a hat, if that benefits their wife and kids.
They always think their life is more worthy than yours, because you are single and young you dont have anyone to look after. So they will literally leave you behind at any moment.
They cant go anywhere without wife's consent and approval, even if not directly.
They think their time is more valuable because the time they spend with you is time that they dont have, because wife rules over them, and any money they are not making they perceive it is value they lose. Often they cant even enjoy their time.
They only hold you back, their energy is low, and they are too comfortable in their lives.
[–]nickaaster2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
True that. Sometimes even bros and your parents would do that unconsciously, if you are single and your bros are married with kids. This is another kind of redpill with is also a direct result of pussy worship as the central organizing principal of societies.
[–]TheLastMgtow1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For me married bros, are not real bros. You know their life is shit, and they can drown you with them at any moment. I dont tell them anything, but as soon as i see them going down that rabbit hole i just start distancing myself slowly.
[–]KnowingHomie0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
We could blame the wife, but we shouldn't blame the children. Not their fault if they were born in that family and even less their fault that they were simply born. A child will always need, not require, but need more attention than an adult.
And here I thought men who already had kids were the hardcore ones because that is what good life insurance is for. Ya already won at life and got everything set and planned for the worst. So now you can continue on with how you live when you were younger as long as you can even if you die or retire. That is at least my thoughts when say planning a one way trip to mars. Take the older men with nothing to lose and everything to teach and maybe a few of the young ones. Suicide run and none will ever make it back. Its like volunteering to go onboard a sinking ship.
Then I see the divorce rates and suicide because of it. lol Well ya still got kids that may survive you and you always knew life is hell and people only have it good because of your work and your fathers work.
I dont know if i understood your comment well.
But anyways. I dont think kids have anything to do with the scope in life. I think thats only nature to keep us reproducing. And we men dont even think about kids. We only think about getting many women, thats how nature tricks us at first.
At some point in animals they overeproduce, and experience overcrowding, thats when they start killing each other and displaying homosexual behavior, suicide, and selfmutilating. Is that the future of humanity? Maybe...
One thing im sure. Im not going to waste my time, or sacrifice myself, for the old religion of dna spreading, or anything for that matter. I will enjoy my life the best, and do epic shit till i die. You all can have a bunch of snotty annoying kids, if thats what gives meaning to your existence, and makes you feel good.
Thats far from being my objective in life. I dont understand why other men dont understand this. And i think they are brainwashed to believe they are missing out something, because they lost the lottery of spreading genes, that will disappear anyways, if nature needs so.
"So your genes will die out." Great for me, too bad for the world. I guess the meek will inherit the earth. 80% of men in history didnt reproduce. And even if you, impregnate half of the women in the world, your genes will still disappear if they are not fit for the environment. Nature doesnt care about scientism. Dna spreading is the new religion, and the new bluepill. "But you didnt leave a legacy."

Good insight. Not just friends, include brothers - personal experience.
That's why i never mix family/friendship with business. One of my "brothers" got offered a job as an accountant assistant by the father of one of our "brothers''. When asking about wage, the father said to him: no worries, we'll talk about this during your formation. So my friend goes my the business of the friend's father to start his formation, upon arriving there he gets informed that he will be paid minimum wage. Of course he refused, who would go to university in business/economy just to get paid minimum wage and only 9 hours a week lmao. But the thing is even though his relationship with the son did not really change, it still impacted regardless of all this because for him to act like this shows you the type of influence he has around his son (our friend).

An ideal partner, business or romantic, is a partner, not a symbiote. If they consistently need more of you than you can give while focusing on yourself or your current objective, they're a symbiote. It can be a sure sign they need you more than they want you, and that's a sure sign that you are easily replaced to them. So you should replace them, or leave their space vacant and fill it with more of your stuff.

I was told that employers to employ married men if they want loyality. As they have to commit to the work and have to feed a family so they can't go around changing jobs that easy (one reason not to get married). But now that this guy mentions it, projects were doomed with friends who placed their girlfriends ahead of themself like she was the world, because the dumb fucker either kept texting all day or had to leave after half an hour.

I used to have this client, a small company owned by two guys. These guys were really innovative, always had very cool ideas, we worked together and we made a lot, but a lot of money together. Plenty of projects together, applications sold, etc.
Then they got married and started having kids. Their business has been going down for many years, they fired almost everyone, the few projects remaining barely survive. No new ideas, nothing. Any ideas I bring they have to "think about them", takes them forever, they forget, whatever. They are nothing like the ambitious guys I used to know.
I'm still around for them, but everything's pretty much dead, and I can see them going back to a 9-5 job or something soon, or just selling everything that remains and stay at home living off savings/interests, because their energy is totally non-existent now.
