I've been wearing my old wedding ring the last month and here's what I can tell you so far:

I feel it on my finger and it reminds me to GYOW

It keeps me focused on the now and reinforces my resolve to be "married to me"

Women's eyes linger on it and then lock onto my eyes and speak far more excitedly/flirty with me. Whereas before they treated me as a stock male.

I feel better about myself when I see it. Realizing I actually always loved this ring. It's cool. Platinum with white gold braiding and solid as hell. I always enjoyed wearing it and realizing now I'm wearing it for me just feels good. It was another thing she took from me that I've taken back and given to myself.

For a lot of desperate women, a wedding ring just means "this one can provide and is willing to commit".

Women know that most marriages suck for the guy. He works and all his money goes to some woman that nags and bosses, but doesn't provide sex. These guys are unhappy and willing to fuck pretty much anything that they think won't have consequences. So any girl who looks halfway decent can flirt with such as guy and know he'll respond. If she then puts out and acts nice, the guy will have a really good chance of either buying her a bunch of shit or leaving wife for her.

So a wedding ring does not keep women away. It brings in the desperate ones.

Guys on the other hand mostly think a wedding ring means, "taken".

Absolutely not. Hearing the same questions can drive you insane, the fake ring is a fantastic woman repellent, since they think you've already been claimed and it will stop all the slightly derogatory "Why are you not married yet".

Go for it, that question would piss me off too after a while, I'm not the type to just tell people the real reason why. Saying something like "I'm still looking" is easier but can be a subconscious affirmation and might affect your MGTOW mentality and put you back in woman's reach.

I’m 52 and started wearing one when I go out, it gives me an excuse to beg off when they come up to me. If they get incessant I just say look I’m married and don’t cheat. If they keep up just escalate or by then I can usually bail on whatever I was out for. Remember it’s going your own way, do what’s right for you.
