Not a big fan of gatekeeping... What these things mean to you are what they mean to you.

Other people that don't fit your mold might also benefit or enjoy reading/contributing to posts.

Some might just be playing around with different ideas and need time to figure out what works for them.

Maybe some people just sympathize with some of the issues. Maybe they agree with some things and not the others...

Everyone's circumstances are different.

I’m not so sure about that. I have a friend who’s close to 50 years old who lives in a nice house with his kids. He has a 15 years younger girlfriend who lives in her own apartment because he doesn’t want to live with her.

He fucks loads of chicks on the side and parties all the time. He’s living his life on his own terms and doesn’t let his gf make the rules.

He told me that he made it clear from the beginning that he is gonna live his life exactly like he wants to, and if it doesn’t suit her she doesn’t have to hang around. I would say that he is mgtow.

Anything else in between is up to you. You can string along a woman for as long as you like so long as you do not marry her, you are good. The thing is usually, stringing along a woman takes a lot of effort and lying, something many men here are not comfortable with. Also the things that cause you to swear off marriage and cohabitation eventually causes you to avoid short term relationships with women altogether in the long run.

Well it depends, going your own way means you are free to do what you want, if the relationship doesnt restrict your opportunities and isnt controlling you or extorting money from you, then you are still a mgtow but as far as I have seen, those relationships dont exist. In other words, as long as you are free it doesnt matter if you have a girlfriend or not, you are still a mgtow but the majority of men in relationships are not free. You dont need to pump and dump as a mgtow, you can also have short term relationships but you know you are never going to settle down. The 3 golden rules of mgtow are: dont get married, dont cohabitate and dont have children. As long as you are following these 3 rules and not being a simp, having a girlfriend is fine, its just that the relationship wont last because she will demand a commitment and when you refuse, she will have to break up with you, this is because of her hypergamy instinct.

Not all women suck. Many do. Some of the hypocrisy that exists in our culture and laws are ridiculous. But I don’t hate on people who are in happy relationships with the good women. It’s dope being alone because you can be yourself. And if you find someone who is also happy being themself and allows you to be yourself and makes you happy, good on you. I don’t see how that can’t coincide with being a man and going your own way.

I'm at the point where I wouldn't be surprised to see a "I'm a recently married MGTOW looking for some advice..." post upvoted to 1.6k or so on the mgtow front page.

The amount of guys in here who claim to be "mgtows" yet absolutely refuse to accept female nature is mind-blowing. I would wager 90% of men on this sub would be walking down the aisle tomorrow if a few marriage laws were adjusted; not removed, mind you, but just adjusted to be slightly less shitty.

Just look at any, ANY post that asks "why are you guys mgtow?" and you'll see that the highest rated post in almost every single one of those threads is some dipshit that basically just says we are only mgtow because of the biased laws and family courts.

MGTOW is a set of observations about the current and often historical dynamic between the individual male and his culture at large, with a focus on how those interaction pertain to romance and family. As most men are heterosexual, this thinking is heavily focused around women. (It could be argued that gay and asexual men are MGToW by default.)

It is then up to the individual how he decides to reduce or negate these dangers. The idea that a man is never going to have any contact with women besides the minimum necessary to live his life is a potential conclusion. But it's neither common or particularly practical.

You may decide that is what being MGTOW is to you, and you have a complete right to do that. But you don't dictate what MGtOW means to anyone else, and you aren't helping the movement achieve its goals by trying to demand extremity as the standard. I will decide which women I want to associate with and to what extent. I'm a man going my own way, not a man going your way.

My GF and I have been together 9 years. We dated in HS. After HS I joined the Navy; she got married. We reunited about 20 years later via FB.

She has a 6 figure job. She doesn't want marriage, doesn't want to cohabitate, doesn't want to share money. She knows about MGTOW.

I've never been married, no kids. I travel the US for work I enjoy and live in a 30' travel trailer that I love. We talk regularly and see each other about 1 week/quarter. We split food and entertainment costs. I live my life, she lives hers. We both like the arrangement.

This is my way and makes me happy. I've been living by my own rules LONG before someone put a label on it.
