Same reason my ex divorced me. Well. Now the joke is on her. Today I celebrate my last child support payment.

Thank you. The future seems so much brighter today.

I feel for you man, but I don't see how the jokes on her as you just had to endure however many years of making CS payments to that parasite.
[β]Buddy_4201 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
The jokes on her, because her actions (cheating, leaving me and finally divorce) opened my eyes and made me build and become a much better man. I have more money, time and assets than I ever would have with her. The jokes on her, because she left before I reached my full potential and became someone who would have given her a much better life. Now she is alone, grossly over weight and poor as can be. Our kids have even given up on trying to help, they see her for the person she really is.

How did you make more money and assets? Iβm in the middle of 3 years of alimony and I feel like shit all the time because it feels like my finances are always down to the bone.
Iβve already gotten a promotion at work and cut unnecessary expenses. I still feel like Iβm being financially raped every month.
[β]Buddy_4201 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
I work as a contractor overseas. Even the low end jobs, say working the chow hall or supervising the cleaning of the bathrooms, pays in the mid to upper 60's. My contract, working the flight line, is in the 6 digits. The thing to remember about contracting, you pay no fed tax. So, to bring home the same for a $65,000 contract, you would need to be around $82,000 in the states. Plus, no rent, no food expense, free entertainment, 2-3 paid vacations a year for 3-4 weeks each where they pay your airfare plus $1200-$2500 in expenses.
[β]fleetwood-pc1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
My problem is my salary is already pretty maxed out for my field (software development). I worked my ass off for 1.5 yrs for a promotion but only worked out to an extra few hundred a pay period. I canβt switch fields easily. I feel like Iβm living in purgatory or something, I canβt take my kids on vacation or get out of this shitty apartment or fricking save for retirement again until alimony ends in two years.
I donβt know what to do. Every month I feel like shit because I do my budget and thereβs nothing left. Iβve already cut everything that I can.
[β]Buddy_4202 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I will say this. The first two tears were the hardest. Rarely saw my kids, never had any money, and the brightest part of my week was the day I got to sleep in and extra hours because the Sunday shift was shorter. I struggled, but I had goals. It took every bit of that first two years to save my first $10,000. After that, and with newer and better jobs, and changing to contracting, the next $10,000 only took 14 months. What I am saying is, the tougher it is, the stronger it can make you. Fight for it everyday and know she can't keep doing it to you forever. Three years of purgatory, and then a life time of strength.
[β]fleetwood-pc1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
How are you seeing your kids now though? You're overseas right? I'm assuming theyre in the US somewhere. I can't not see my kids, that is my one non negotiable. I need to be in their life.
[β]Buddy_4200 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Face time and Facebook messenger are about all we have now. They know that within the next 4 years, I will be home for good. When time permits for all of us, I can take them on holidays, just me and them. I took them to a Bon Jovi concert in London. Disney World in France, and we have been on two cruises. I don't get the quantity of time I wanted, but we do get far more quality.
[β]fleetwood-pc0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Goddamnit man, you're missing their childhoods. Wtf kind of world we live in where fathers literally ripped from their childrens lives like this.
[–]Buddy_4201 point 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I should point out, they are 21, 23 and 26. The reason I had to pay till he was 21, is because he was enrolled in college (mothers way of getting 3 more years of CS). I have been contracting for 12 years, the first 3 were the hardest. I was married to the ex for the first year, then she found another branch and swung. Didn't like the tree and tried coming back. To late for her, I had moved on. The biggest thing for me was when the kids found out that all the problems, were her fault. I was always there for them, giving them what they needed. She was always there, taking what she wanted. She was living off CS and what the two oldest were making.
[–]fleetwood-pc1 point 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
What a parasite man, I'm sorry. Some women abusing CS to get a free ride through life. Now you and your kids sacrifice all that time together.
While there is a difference between going home everyday to being away for months, we men always sacrifice. But, I gain strength and wisdom knowing my sacrifice was never in vein for my children. I could have bad mouthed the mother, and they would have resented me for it. I let them grow and see for themselves what I do, who I am, and that I really do love them. I call it my divorce check mate. She got a lot of pieces in the beginning, but at the end, I am the only king still standing...
[β]SkishyTheSire[S] 40 points41 points42 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Good job man, you have 50/50 custody or did she take that too?
[β]JTR61646 points47 points48 points 7 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
If he had 50/50 custody he wouldn't have to pay child support. He got fucked.
Edit: apparently in some states you can still pay child support in 50/50 custody if you make more money than the other parent. Well that's some bull shit.
[β]Crown_Cran28 points29 points30 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's not true at all. My dad had me 50/50 and paid more child support than anyone I've ever met
[β]deadBeefCafe201423 points24 points25 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not true. I have 50/50 and it still costs me over $250/wk.
[β]epo91610 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not necessarily, sometimes you still have to pay support even if you have 50/50
[β]SkishyTheSire[S] 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm srry I'm 16 I was just wondering if he even got em on weekends or ? what
[β]Buddy_4201 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
She had full custody. I work as an overseas contractor, so I could not bring the kids with me. Seeing as how it really is a war zone. I chose a war zone over being in the same state as my ex. Go figure.
[β]Profitglutton11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Has she tried playing the victim role to get you to continue supporting her lazy ass?
[β]Buddy_4201 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Of course. Two months ago she tried to get a judge to extend her benefits. Judge said no. So last week she sent an email asking if I could offer any help at all. I said okay, than sent her a link to the want adds in her area.
[β]Profitglutton0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Itβs absolutely astounding the level of entitlement she feels toward your labor. She had no problem milking you dry for years and running to the courts to extend your servitude but then having the gall to ask you for help after all of that? It amazes me to no end how much they think theyβre owed support just because theyβre female.
I agree. She had to find out the hard way her mashed up sagging tuna salad had no value. So, she switched to "do it for the children". She hated when I pointed out, giving her anything did not trickle down to my off spring. I will take care of them, but I do not give them any money, as I know it will go to the gravity well of an ex wife.

I am only a few years out. Cant wait. Whats the feeling? I plan to throw a big party on that special day .
[β]Buddy_4202 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As I am overseas as a contractor, could not really throw a party. But, I do plan to celebrate my first free and clear check by using it all on reserving a cruise for my next R&R in August. Thinking an Asian cruise.
[β]Doc_Sithicus6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
How do you think she'll react?
Simple. She tried two months ago, because she knew it was coming, to get the judge to extend her benefits. The judge, of course, said there are no grounds for me to continue payments.
[β]CatDelete 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I can guarantee she's been living at the edge of her means (or beyond) so she's going to have to take the downgrade. Meanwhile you can enjoy a nice little upgrade if you like.
She is now, at 46, living back with her parents and broke to the point of tears. Her parents gave her till the end of the month to figure something out, but I know they would never kick her out...

At first i didn't understand why my father wouldn't marry my mother. They love each other right? A marriage is eternal?
As the years passed by it all started to make sense. My father was very smart. Because he would lose everything if they were married. I would have separated parents at the age of 6. They were fighting every month. Constantly threatening to leave each other. To this date they are still together.
My father was red pilled from the very beginning. And i'm very thankful for the subliminal lesson. As it was not teached directly towards me. But it was playing in the back ground.
[β]ParalyticPoison29 points30 points31 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
He would have been even wiser to have not dealt with a cunt in the first place, but then you would not exist most likely, so take that as you will. I think my Dad would be better off without my Mom.

People take a lot of things for granted. My dad isn't one of them. Most don't even meet their own. That's not me trying to be an asshole. Its the truth. And he got to teach me how to be a man. You can't ask that more from a father.

[β]Nathan_P_Charles 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
U said they separated when u were 9. High school doesnt stary till 14. I qas assuming divorce before u started high school. Unless of course she used her divorce settlement to pay for the tiddies
[β]U-945 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
She started 'going back to school' around when I was in middle school. First community college then an all-female college. Throughout this time she was not working while my dad was a general contractor. She graduated while I was in early high school, immediately followed by implants. Then my parents separated while I was a junior in HS - I remember because we had to move out of the house, etc.
So Pops definitely fronted the bill for all that shit.

I know two dudes who paid for their wives to finish school and also built them a brand new house. Guess what? As soon as the wives finished school and got jobs, they divorced their husbands, took the house, the kids, and the support payments.

To my Dad's credit, he always had side women...so he wasn't a complete sucker.
[β]calamityecho26 points27 points28 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Literally the other way around with my nmom. She wanted to marry my dad for the money AND citizenship. Now she sits at home and contributes absolutely nothing to the family, but she always complains when she doesnβt get what she wants. Damn freeloader.

The only systemic prejudice in this country is that against the good hard working decent fathers. The family court system chewed me up and spit me out. But that's alright because in the end it showed me the light.

What about if they just donβt work together? Wouldnβt be better to divorce than stay in the relationship? Seriously, women donβt just want money.
[β]MGTOWrath0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why didn't they work together?
Oh right, because she kept picking fights with him so that she could justify wanting a divorce by blaming him. Typical femoid strategy.
[β]SkishyTheSire[S] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, but alot of the times they do actually want money.
