But they work less overtime, less dangerous work, take out more vacation days and are generally not as productive as men. It also doesn't take into account the different jobs that we choose. Men typically choose more technical jobs. Where women choose more social jobs such as nursing.
Obviously men get paid more at these technical jobs. The wage gap doesn't show that though. It just adds up earnings of one gender, earnings of another and then averages it then ratios it for men:women.
The one industry that this doesn't fall true is entertainment like football but there's very clear reasons why.
It doesn't even make sense from an economy viewpoint. If women were in fact getting paid less for the same work, wouldn't businesses and companies hire women instead? Not what we see though. We see mostly men in competition for these high paying jobs and businesses filling diversity quotas for the rest.
