Grats, just make sure you don’t tell women. I got a vasectomy in 2015. 2 kids was enough for me, no future whoopsy to happen. And yes I agree with everything you said. I also ejaculated the same day I had the surgery, I wanted to make sure I could still get an orgasm and that it still worked lol. I never did ever go get tested after I had it done, so I still hope I'm sterile. Though I haven't had sex in 11 years out of choice, soo... I guess I don't have much to worry about.

Congratulations on a wise decision that many men go green at the thought of someone cutting their strings.

For pain relief, I found 500mg paracetamol with 5-10mg of Codeine helped with the discomfort, along with supportive underwear. One of my main reasons, apart from wanting total control over my fertility was that cancer ran deep on my mums side of the family, and I didn't like the idea of being a carrier to infect another person who had no choice in their creation. I also wanted completed control over my body.

Things may be different now, but when I was trying to get a vasectomy as a single man in the mid 90's, I was confronted with the medical profession imposing a double standard regarding "My Body! My Rights!" It seems Dr's were reluctant to perform a vasectomy on a single man, without a partner's approval (didn't have a girlfriend at the time) because it was "permanent" (like abortion isn't?) and reversals are a bit hit and miss. A single woman can claim "My Body! My Rights!" and flush out a perfectly healthy baby on a whim, no questions asked, without the man even knowing in many cases, regardless of any objections from her male partner if he did know. However, should I want to take personal responsibility by getting a vasectomy to prevent an unexpected pregnancy in the first place (and spare the woman from having to face the dilemma of an abortion) , the medical profession have pangs of 'conscience' about performing the procedure on a single man, without a woman's input and consent? Something is seriously fucked up here.
