I'm in my mid-50s and have a decent job. I was married to my wife for 25 years and those days will forever remain entrenched in my memory. Long story short we separated a couple years back. I'm a shell of ym former self. Crippled by loneliness and manacled by powerlessness I don't have it in me to live any longer than I have to. Grief sits with me and with its tropic heat thickens the air. I gasp for love, for support, for intimacy and I can get none.

Every night I go to bed I'm alone and swathed in yearning for a partner. My responsibilities towards my parents have left me exhausted. The monotony has left me paralysed and as much as I want to abandon everything and everyone I can't. My son meets me occasionally and makes caustic comments about my weakness.

He abhors my timidity but where do gather fortitude from. The friends I trusted with all my being tricked me. Betrayal after betrayal and left is a man who's no more than a glop. In thr mirror I see a graveyard of dreams. My eyes that one shone like an opaline now are glum. Heart that once was a glistening beacon of love for others is a damaged by the shards of disloyalty.

I give up. I give up on life.
