Cash & real estate, though now is the time to sell real estate and good buys are hard to find. Actually signed a contract today to buy a house on 2 acres for $65,000 cash, move in ready with closing in 10 days. I always want to have enough cash on hand to take advantage of deals like this. As interest rates rise we should see home prices start to fall and get back to a more balanced market.

I think a good barometer of when the market is going to crash is the price of gas. When it starts getting close to 4.00 a gallon, the real estate market shoots to astronomical levels, foreclosures and repos start going up. You better dump stocks and go into cash. Also, lets see how many people wind up in the streets at the end of July when the eviction moratorium is over, and September when federal unemployment benefits run out. The feds keep printing money driving inflation? These are weird times, anything could happen.

I've turned almost everything into cash. Even if the real inflation goes up to 10% and the interest rates rise to 5%, I'll only lose the other 5%. On the other hand, when (not if) the stock market goes down 50% or more, it's going to be much more painful indeed. Also, unlike in 2020, the Fed can't lower the interest rates anymore so the bonds will certainly suffer when the the rates start going up. Therefore, I'll have an opportunity to buy stocks & bonds at a huge discount too...

If you have a large sum, high quality tools dont loose value. It specially cnc. Those make you good money. But the investment has to be big and client managment has to be smart

or if what worries you is just inflation you could also get other currencies.... Swiss currency is famous for being really safe.

Or, (Since you mentioned Bitcoin) you could buy stablecoins not linked to USD for example, PAXG is a crypto backed up by gold

Gold. No yield is better than negative real yield on bonds, thus it will attract more inflows as we proceed with this "transitory" hyperinflation. :P

If they do however decide to stop QE and raise rates and bankrupt the US government a bit of Gold isn't the worst thing to have in a crisis, albeit it will probably sell off a bit initially when the liquidity crunch hits.

But yes, paraphrasing a quote I read somewhere lately "If you don't have the means to protect what you own, you're just collecting it for the guy who will take it away from you."

401k and Roth are good places to park money, as long as you know you won't need it before 59 1/2. Within the Roth or t-IRA, it's best to pick widely diversified and low-cost mutual funds, so called "index funds," rather than individual stocks. The stock market should stay ahead of inflation, so putting money there is probably the best bet. I assume you know about asset allocation; if not, bone up on that.

I'm too risk-averse to mess with crypto, personally. I don't like a lot of volatility, and I don't want to be watching my portfolio like a hawk or worrying about when the drop is coming. I kind of like a "set it and forget it" model, so index investing works well for me.

I put in a good 15K during 2020 after March into stocks, almost doubled that at the end of December. Either everything recovered or inflation hit a lot harder than we’ve been told, mostly everything’s just went back to pre-covid prices the most part.

Things have been slower in 2021 though, wondering if we’ll have another crash, who knows.

Look up dividend aristocrats and buy those stocks should they have huge dips, worth it long term with a billion dollar company appreciation and dividends along the way.

I've had the most success in real estate, but now probably isn't the best time to buy because there is a chance we're in a real estate bubble. A lot depends on your local market, though. It's a good long-term move, but obviously lacks in liquidity.

I've never been big on crypto, but I think now could be a good time to buy BTC on the dip. You could try gold/silver if you want a more traditional approach.
