I didn't 'become MGTOW' really, MGTOW became a thing about 20 years after I decided that relationships were futile. I realised that women had pre-planned dumping me long before it happened and that no matter how heartbroken I was, they truly did not give a fuck. So I tried being on my own, and as the days, months and years passed, it got better. Life is exciting, and the best thing about discovering MGTOW is that it helped me understand the female psychology, and it wasn't my fault for being a beta. Now I feel like an alpha, but I don't give zero fucks for anything other than a 1 night stand.

Nothing "happened".

Ever since I was very young I thought marriage was for fools and that I had absolutely no desire to get married or have kids.

I looked at all my very unhappy friends who were married.

I lost a house to a girlfriend as I was at work she had the locks changed and because of the way the law favors women I came home.. I called the police and was asked to leave my own house.

Luckily I'm smart and cold so I got myself off the house lease and her name on it.. and bought a house across town and just bought new stuff.

She has the gall to email me after: "HA HA you loser I got all yourstuff!"

Then a few weeks later: "OMG.. you put me on the lease.. I can't afford this place on my own.. you fucking asshole"

Then I replied: "LOL"

I was sitting in my empty house drinking a beer and listening to the radio and I said "That's it.. that's the last one I let move in"

Then I found menarebetterthanwomen.com and then TRP and then I found my home in MGTOW!

For me it was learning how to relate to women in a way to get my physical needs met without needing to make any kind of commitment. Once I knew how to do that, I was able to fully pursue my natural inclination, which is to pursue my interests without having family or romantic obligations.

Finally stopped giving a shit what anyone else thinks about how I live. I am honest and live true to me. That aligns closest with MGTOW. But I still like fucking and do so regularly because that is ''my own way.'' But I do not ''care'' about sex at all.

My mind changes every day. Or, more accurately, my mind is further refined every day. If I still think exactly as I do now by next month or next year, I believe that is a bad outcome.

What happened that made you officially decide to go MGTOW

About five years ago I came across the term "MGTOW" and realised that it described what I'd been thinking for the last few decades.

What specific thing would have to happen for you to change your mind

If the label "MGTOW" starts meaning something else other than what it meant when I first encountered the term, then I will no longer officially call myself "MGTOW".

I'm about half-way there now, since "MGTOW" seems to now mean something different to what it did five years ago. It is evolving into some kind of separatist movement from what I've seen on other forums. That's why I've been urging to include a clear definition of "MGTOW" on r/MGTOW2 so we are all working from the same definition.

Was mentally a MGTOW for some time. Enjoyed my own company--especially when it came to living arrangements. I hated the lack of accountability and agency that I saw in pretty much every woman I came across. I also hated the financial delta between single life and life with a woman. To top it off, I saw my friends getting divorced for no more reasons than the wife being bored.

I had a terrible baby trap where I did the "right thing" and married the mother. But to be fair, I had probably made the MGTOW decision well before that. All that experience did for me is justify my earlier thinking.

I have always been me. Found a unicorn, had kids, was still me, but I am getting on now, I’m not 21 anymore, so my fun/hobbies are more laid back now. I know a fair bit about human nature from my observations and interactions, and I know that 90-95% aren’t worth the time it takes for them to suck my balls, so I am very anti social now. 17 years with unicorn, last 3 years dropped to fucking once a month. I started treating it how it treated me. I found various “MGTOW” stuff on the net and everything made sense from them. Last 3 months with unicorn were hell, I was hoping we could work it out to keep the kids ok. Then one day I snapped, I had enough of its shit and told it to fuck off. Took a bit of healing and learning to understand what has happened, but they are “awalt”, it’s just a matter of time. I look at everyone else’s relationships around me now with the red pill thought process and I see a few men in control but I see about 80% living my nightmare. There is nothing you can do, they don’t want to change you, but like a glacier they crush you, then aren’t happy anymore and they try and fuck you over. Try it, but know what’s going to happen in the end, be a cunt to women and you will go far.

It was three things:

Being married. I didn't get burned the way a lot of guys did, but I learned that it just wasn't for me. I felt like I was living someone else's life and I was losing myself.
Following the marriage, I dated furiously for about a year. However, that process made me realize that I wasn't all that interested in a relationship. I thought I was, but actual exposure helped me realize I wasn't. I haven't dated since. That was 12 years ago.
I periodically will join a dating site, because I get triggered by something or another (some FOMO or just curiosity). Within a week, I'll lose all interest and motivation. There just isn't anything out there that is worth all the costs and downsides.

I wasn't aware of the MGTOW label until about 2 years ago, but I've essentially been MGTOW for 12 years (although I was still blue pill in a lot of ways, up until about 2 years ago).

Post-divorce depression, as I realized that I was the only one who believed in " Til death do us part".

Tried dating afterwards- nope.

Finally came to the conclusion that we, as men, must be complete, without needing someone as a crutch. Realized I'd been wrong all those years.

Now, working on building my life, as I see fit.

Understanding that relationship dynamics were too skewed to actually have an sort of healthy relationship and the fact that most women these days look to their man to bring them happiness instead of understanding that happiness is a choice for most. These 2 instances made me realize that the chance of finding a joyful relationship outside of friendship will probably only cause headache and misery.
