If you read the comments on such a story you will see it's primarily men, and that has not changed much since stories started having comments. In the UK as well.

Contrast that with Debra Lafave in 2005, who received no prison time at all.

They may not call themselves feminists, but if you ask them about feminist issues, good luck finding any difference.

I only joined this subreddit a few months ago, but from what I've heard from other people, we are making progress. Unfortunately, it is slow progress, but it's a Hell of a lot better than nothing.

We're moving in two opposing directions at once (and, as the saying goes, the center cannot hold).

The billionaire class has decided that feminism and ID politics (both on the right and left) are the ideal way of keeping western populations divided and conquered. This didn't happen via a single group of men sitting around a table in a dark room. It's just something they seem to have more or less intuited. A handful of corporations control most of the media you consume. Divide and conquer is the oldest trick in the book.

If everyone is squabbling about race and sex and transgender bathrooms we won't be talking as much about the obscene levels of wealth inequality, the dismal state of labor unions, lack of upward mobility, war etc.

So ruling elites have essentially handed over gargantuan amounts of power to feminists, which they may withdraw at any time. Almost every single media corporation is not only feminist but radically anti-male. This also has the benefit of destroying the family, demoralizing working class men, increasing social atomization, and curtailing civil liberties -- most notably freedom of speech. Women on average are more sensitive and risk averse and seem to care more about "protecting people's feelings" than bedrock civil liberties.

On the other hand, just as feminists are achieving more and more institutional power and passing more and more unjust laws, average people are coming to despise them. People who identity as feminists are a shrinking minority. Newspapers are having to get rid of comment sections because feminist "journalists" have their arguments debunked in seconds. Even the commentators on liberal and leftist publications are expressing open hostility to feminism and ID politics.

Sick of being labeled privileged oppressors, men are starting to actually read feminist and anti-feminist literature and looking at the hard data. What they find is that not only is it debatable whether men were "privileged" historically, women are now institutionally privileged in every aspect of western society.

Confronted with this information, the growing anger of men is fed by a constant barrage of misandry and lies from the feminist media. Due to the dearth of leadership on the left this is and will cause more and more men to move to the right. While tradcons are still gynocentric, they at least don't express open hatred of males.

This shift is perfectly acceptable to the billionaire class, because the right doesn't threaten their monopoly on wealth and power. A large faction of the ruling class is concerned about right wing populism, because it doesn't accord with the elite consensus of internationalism, and the alt-right is anti-Semetic, which obviously terrifies rich Jews.

What would truly terrify the ruling class is if leftist men and women decided to reject identity politics. But anti-authoritarian leftists and leftists who focus on traditional concerns like class and imperialism are marginalized and given no support by the powerful.

Either the left starts supporting men's rights, or the alt-right/far right will win.

I hear more about male domestic abuse victims, I've heard of several male dv shelters being opened, male prison sentence disparity, now we are seeing some male sexual assault cases, and have Bojack Horseman joking about circumcision falling out of vogue. I think there is progress to be made. With an optimistic attitude and a strong focus on the issues (and less on our opponents) we can make real progress.

Yes, there is progress, although I'd appreciate more loving from mods to clean out shit, the same articles posted dozen of times, cheapshot "some random BS from some random FB post from a person nobody on the planet knows" doesn't help.

In a way, it does.

We must understand that men and boys are the first that will be touched by the message, and the first to adopt a stance whenever men are put down by the society.

And what I see today is that more and more men are speaking out, even famous men. To speak out is no longer as hard as before, is no longer deemed to be "unmasculine" and "against women".

And to keep it short, look at Pewdiepie. He is a very popular guy and he is watched by millions. When he stand against the double standards none of the millions of viewers had anything bad to say.

The new generation is even better. Young men view Milo, Shapiro, Pewdiepie, H3H3, Peterson, Hoffsummers, and so on.

They realize that feminism is a huge lie, they start to understand that they are screwed by the system even from schools and they become more and more aware of this.

10 years ago no one dared to speak out, to say that men had issues was something none believed, now popular youtubers are slowly redpilling millions

of course the mainstream leftist feminist media hate these people all day long. Guardian, Huffpo, Slate, Vox, Vice and all the leftist marxist feminist garbage and filth are trying hard to stop men for hearing about the issues.

Labeling anyone as "alt right" "fascist" or the new SPLC invented term "male supremacist" is all part of their discourse to put men and boys down.

But I can see that they are losing, and they are losing men. Especially young men. If that demographic starts to get redpilled about the feminist double standard and the social misandry, they are toasted.

And young men are getting red pilled even by the left marxist feminists. Their hate helps the movement to grow, and each "erase white male" and "kill all men" article helps us immensely.

There is more to fight for, but at least, the fight has started and our side grows while their side censor us, enact laws to punish men and their sexuality, and openly hate and despise us.

And that was before #MeToo and the future "yes means yes affirmative consent" that will define all human sexual and romantic adventures as default rapes....

Feminism is dead, but it's putrid carcass will take some time to decompose, and meanwhile will do a ton of damage and misery to men, boys, women, girls and families alike.

I think we're up to 3 states now that have passed legislation geared toward shared parenting. More than half of the others have considered it, and several more likely will pass legislation in the coming few years.

Now the question is, can we say this is something the MRM championed or won? I'm not sure. It's definitely an idea in line with the MRM, but the the majority of organizations who are pushing this do not identify as men's rights activists (NPO for example). I'd, personally, still call this an achievement for men's rights, but I think the public at large will fail to make the connection.

It’s an uphill battle for sure but it’s one that needs to be fought if not for us then our sons and grandsons .

Well, my take is that sexism sucks for everyone and social progress generally benefits both genders, so I think things are overall better for men. Alimony rates are going down, custody is slowly becoming more even, marriages are lasting longer, etc. There are lots of metrics along which men's lives are better.

I beleive in things like rape culture an patriarchy, but the way I use those words, as well as the way I think most feminists use those words, doesn't relate much at all to how MRAs understand them. I'm not too aware of anyone who thinks female predators don't exist; many believe they're a rare exception.
