It depends on how much money we're talking about.

I would love to be a stay at home dad.

But the financial realty for most couples is that you will probably have to work at least part time in order to be able to afford to raise children.

Giving up work and being a stay at home dad makes you completely reliant on someone else. If they leave you, you have no career to land on. That's a precarious position to be in.

Being 100 percent reliant on someone else leaves you with minimal options if things get rocky or if she gets abusive. It's not good for women now and it wouldn't be great for men either.

For me, stay at home dad. I love kids and I've wanted them for ages. I know that I'll never be able to be a stay at home dad, I earn 4 times more than my partner.

Honestly I think all families need one 'father figure' (can be a mother, just playing the role of a typical father) who takes their child on days out and stuff like that, and does activities, and a 'mother figure' (again, can be a father, but playing the role of a typical mother) who does the stuff like raising them and looking after the kids on a day to day basis.

I’m the breadwinner of my household. I wouldn’t care if it was the other way around. I’d need to have purpose to my life, outside of raising my family. I think this applies to anyone in a relationship whether or not they are the breadwinner.

I (personally) think 50/50 is best. Although, I’d be okay with a traditional woman or a modern woman.

A traditional women I’d do the paying completely, (basically the breadwinner) i’ll pay for the gifts, dinner, food at the store etc while she does the traditional thing staying home, cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids (although I’d also take care of my kids of course)

But with modern women I’d do 50/50. We split the bill, pay for each other (gifts and otherwise), we both do the housework, we both pay for groceries, we both take care of the kids and just stuff 50/50.. but yeah I’d prefer 50/50

I think someone has to stay home if you have kids, me specificaly would rather work but if they swap it in a family that is perfectly ok. Until someone cares about the kid.

It is dangerous to be stay at home dad. If she divorces you, there would be a high chance to still loose custody and too not receive any part of her money and be thrown in the street.

Depends. If she makes enough money to comfortably support a household with enough left over to also support everyone's interests, then yeah, I'd be a stay at home dad. Of it's the other way around, I'd be fine as the working dad. If it's in between that, I'd split it.

Unfortunately this is a bad survey. There are absolutely other options to consider and mitigating factors that aren't. First and foremost of my objections is the premise about the option "Or split it 50/50". Split what? Living expenses? Child care? House keeping? Parenting? WTF is being split 50/50?

None, I would pay a plit based on income, so(just giving example numbers here) if my partner made 100k and I made 50k then it would have a 66/33 split
