The same psychology that means men's issues are not taken seriously, men are disposable to society largely because society is the product of evolutionary forces that predate birth control, medicine and even monogamy.

To make a very over simplified hypothetical example, if in prehistory, two tribes faced off one sending half its men and half its women and the other sending all its men, presuming the battle ended in a draw (not likely but this is a hypothetical to illustrate the mechanism) with the same casualty rate, the tribe that sent all men has not changed the maximum rate it can reproduce because one man can impregnate many women, the side that sent a mixed force has reduced its reproduction rate by 5he casualty rate among the women. Repeat this enough and the tribe that sends its women along with its men will lose through weight of numbers alone.

This same evolutionary pressure is what caused dangerous work to be seen as men's work.

I'm going to preface my comments with the clear and absolute statement: I'm not in favor of men, or anyone being forced into war against their will. It is an archaic way of treating humans and should be banned immediately. Whatever comments is being said subsequently serves as answering the question of the post so to have a conversation about this. Explaining why, is not the same as condoning the reasons or practice

War as a concept has been around for a long time, and back before bullets were necessarily a thing, it was better to fill your army with people whom were statistically better off physically. This idea stuck around with physicality being a central condition of fighting in war, and it making sense from a numbers perspective to enlist the part of the population whom were considered most likely to be great fighters.

I agree and it is very unfortunate that this inequality still exists in many societies and laws in many countries.We need to continue to push against this blatantly open discrimination and in my opinion the biggest discrimination and inequality of all.There is nothing really worse than forcing people to do something that they do not want to do simply because of their gender and than having penalties for not registering which is why i have a petition to call on congress to either abolish the selective service here or expand it to have equality in the law and i would appreciate if anyone reading this can look into and sign my petition.

Because an army of women would lose. Men and women ate not equal, equivalent or interchangeable. War dramatically demonstrates this.

Your absolutely right!! Maybe 1000+ years ago when wars were fought with handheld weapons, having an army of men would have worked in your favor because men are, on average, stronger than women. having extra strength, speed, and stamina would have allowed you to survive longer in combat than a woman with the same level of training. However, that is a stupid argument for today's type of combat. If a guy gets shot in the chest, he will die just like a girl would. Wielding a gun takes a certain level of physical strength, that almost any adult would have.

Also, I am probably about average in strength for a male my age. Say you take 100 guys, and Im right in the middle. And say you take 100 girls, and I'm stronger than 70 of them. By the logic of "men are stronger, so they fight in wars" you should take the 50 guys stronger than me AND the 30 girls stronger than me before I have to fight. But sadly society decided that all 100 guys get taken, and no girls do.

Someone still have to carry those rifles, and sometimes bombs. But isn't just physical strength that men have over women, men are also faster, and we have more grit than women. The stuff that makes you walk barefoot over 50 feet of hot coals because if nobody does it, the bomb goes off and everyone dies. The stuff that makes you keep going when you're cold and can barely keep your eyes open from not having slept for 42 hours.

I would say forced to join war is valid if only men can vote or if votes matter more.

So at 18 anyone, men, women, can have a choice.

Agree to be drafted and can vote (or whose vote worth 3 times)
Diagree and can't vote
Pay money to improve hitpoints and DPS of those who may be drafted.

Of course, people drafted should be able to carry machine guns and do their jobs. I've heard women can be snippers.

Let’s say you had a group of 10 people, outta those 10 half are men and half are women, it’s pretty much a guarantee that then men side will have a stronger combined power. Biologically men are stronger and while ofc there will be outliers to that rule the point still stands. You wouldn’t send the weakest into battle so instead countries choose men.

It’s not about protecting women so much as it is protecting the country. War is fucking stupid imo and I think it’s honestly kinda pathetic for the leaders of countries to fight it out on such a large scale.

In a perfect world I think countries should let their citizens vote on whether or not they wanna go to war, those who vote yes will be enlisted as opposed to enlisting people who don’t even think the cause is worth fighting for. I think it’d make the world more peaceful as so many people would realize nothing is worth losing human life.

Idk years ago men wouldn't let women go to war and stuff so I guess just a historical thing
