The point that's missing is "context."

Over an 10 year 9 month period, 11,766 women were killed in a domestic violence scenario.

That's terrible, but the comparison numbers have no relevance to the comparison being made. What is a relevant comparison for DV numbers to determine how out of hand it is? Other violent crime rates, as a percentage of the population. Comparing like to like.

Looking at just 2010, not even a multiple year period, there were approximately 1,210,800 violent crimes. Extrapolated over the same time period (rates were similar enough, especially when I just used "300,000,000" as the population to make this "okay" as a rough estimate), we have 13,016,100 violent crimes occurring.

That means that DV homicides of women are 0.09% of the violent crimes in the United States.

Looking back at just homicide, we see men make up 74.6 percent of homicide victims. Over that 10.75 year period, we can see approximately 154,800 homicides occurred, with approximately 115,480 of the victims being male and approximately 39320 being female.

So, if we ignore the source of the violence, DV, and just look at who is a victim of homicide, we see:

39,320 American Women killed in a 10.75 year period.
115,480 American Men killed in a 10.75 year period.

Conclusion: War against women! /s

I took a different route, and simply asked where the stats for MEN were for this image, not denying the women stats.

I was greeted with something along the lines (Cant copy and paste, was unfrineded and blocked, by my best friends mother) men cant be victims, and those who are, are posturing victims. Having a male cousin arrested when he was the victim it set me off. I was told I didnt matter, and men cannot be victims, and to even hint at it is an insult to women.

She then asked me to set up her new computer and router she bought, and I simply said I dont want her posturing as a victim to the pearls of technology. She then blocked and unfriended me.

Just had to vent a little, first time venturing into this subreddit and really looking. But I like what I see.

Murder is a crime, not a war. The difference is that war is a collective activity sanctioned by the government and usually by society in general, while murder is an individual activity that is harshly penalised by government and society in general.

Just listing the number of murders does not amount to demonstrating a "war". It's a false comparison of two completely different and unrelated things.

Edit: In fact, saying there's a "war on women" in a country where women are pampered and protected above men, is an insult to all the women, men and children who have suffered in real wars.

If there was an actual war on women, the deaths would number hundreds of millions, not mere thousands. As it is, men are murdered far more often than women.

The rest of the story is that domestic homicides are only ~0.01% of all domestic violence and not representative. Also that ~1/4 of all domestic homicide victims are men killed by women.

Population of americans in those situations: 45000 in iraq, lets say an equivalent number in afghanistan.

Population of americans: 311 million

Protection in those situations: Body armor, tactics, and weaponry.

Protection in america: Semi-automatic rifles at best.

Why didn't they divide the victims of terrorist attacks and war casualties by sex? And why didn't they add a section for men killed by their wives and girlfriends? And why didn't they add the total number of homicides? And how about adding the relevant populations as well: US population versus US troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Also, I thought that the "war on women" was not forcing employers to pay for their employee's birth control if they are morally opposed to it, and women paying for their own birth control in a country where healthcare isn't free...

what a load of bullcrap - 1 terrorist attacks: who was targeted against Americans rather than just women, its not like the men survived, isn't it? - 2 & 3 War: yes, women died in those wars, but so did many men, why bring it up in the first place? 4 is the only one that seems to really be directed towards females, I don't know of statistics to say men's death are around the same but I would not be surprised if they were even higher...
