I was blown away when I learned they can use "imputed" income to calculate child support. If the judge believes you can earn more then your child support will be calculated on that amount, not your actual income

It’s beyond evil what they do to men, it’s a criminal enterprise and has nothing to do with the said child, it’s only there to extort the man and make him a slave to the ex wife/gf. They don’t give a shit about custody or some kind of arrangement to see the child. It’s all about money. It’s literally modern day financial slavery and men are always the target. It’s a disgusting evil system and needs to be abolished but that’ll never happen so the ONLY recourse is a vasectomy.

Here's the simple hard-to-swallow pill about child support and alimony:

When men face financial hardship, they tend to find extra ways to earn money, such as extra hours, side gigs, and second jobs.

When women face financial hardship, they tend to take advantage of social services like welfare, food stamps, and the like.

The state knows this. Of course they do. They're the ones dishing out the payments, and they have all the data on recipients of such social services, most of whom are women. Therefore, the state doesn't want to pay out social services if there is a better alternative.

This is why we have this don't ask don't tell system with modern child support. Courts don't want to reduce child support payments because that increases the likelihood of the women turning to social systems. Instead, put the man on the hook (with threat of jail time), and they can reduce strain on social services.

Child support should have a few requirements.

Blood test of the child should be required before child support is given. Lots of women out there have dirty secrets.
The child support, should only be allowed to be used on necessities. Like an EBT card.
If the child was conceived through consensual sex, the man should have a choice in abortion or not. If they cannot agree, If the woman decides to follow through with giving birth. Then there should be rules and limitations on child support. This would need to be very well thought out, to make it fair for both men and women.

Child support battles are usually not about spending money on the child, it's about controlling how it is spent. Most men would happily spend the money on their child, and most women do spend child support on the child too.

Like most things divorced / separated people fight about - they're fighting each other for dominance and the child is just stuck in the middle.

This is exactly like my friend’s ex wife. She’s not on drugs but her drug of choice is dick because that’s all she cares about and doesn’t care who she hurts to get it. She gave up her custody of her three children and my friend is married to my other friend and the woman friend stepped up as a step mother and she hates the bs injustice of CS too. Eventually the bio mother had to start paying my guy friend but she never did, she went 20k back child support and the court didn’t give a fuck, but they had the guy in jail over not paying one time

The child support extortion racket can be minimized if not eliminated if they turn the payment around.

Instead of the man paying $X amount every month, the primary parent (almost always the woman) must make the purchases and submit receipts for reimbursement.

This levels the playing field to a certain extent because now mom can’t sit on her ass and spend that money on anything but the children.

They would also have to submit rent/mortgage documents to show what they are paying and then it is calculated what the children’s portion of that cost is and the dad pays that amount each month.

Same thing with groceries, the mother can’t just go out and buy a bunch of food that isn’t actually for the kids. i.e. liquor, beer for instance. Make her submit receipts for groceries and then calculate what portion of that the kids could justifiably eat in a week/month. Again, this puts her back to the wall, because if it is mom and two kids, then why did she purchase 5 steaks?

And before any naysayers chime in on how this would be managed, it is just like an expense account that a company reimburses you for company expenses. There are apps and companies that manage the whole process for a company for a fee. I have this with my job and all I do is take a picture of the receipts and submit them to the app. Then they direct deposit my refund.

100% is needs to be better regulated. There should be proof of spending to ensure every last dollar is spent on the kids.

And that also includes not spending the money on expenses they'd have to pay whether or not their kids lived with them (rent, rates, wifi, etc).

I've seen so many kids walking around with old ratty clothes, second hand everything or missing out on activities due to money, almost every time I see it, the mother doesn't work, the father pays so much every fortnight that he barely has enough to eat himself... yet the system doesn't expect the mother to work, it just makes the father pay more.

Perhaps if the system was better regulated, it would force mothers to also work and earn a living to support the children they too are financially responsible for.

It’s the weaponizing of child support for me. Like a person knowing you see your child and take care of your child and still use the system to break you because you’ve moved on.. telling a person you can’t wait until they slip or have some sort of bad luck so you can go to jail… I got into a accident and in the mist of it lost everything..and my sons mom gets to talk crazy to me but I can’t even defend myself against her because I’m a man.. she can be careless and talk all sorts of crazy to me and I have to just take it.. but if I say Anything back, she can use the system to lock me away and/or make it to where I can’t see my kid ever again.. dude.. I am also a woman who is living in hell at the moment because of this very thing. I came here to this sub to read about it just to maybe feel a bit better about what I did….. but…. I know someone who is purposely planning on putting off the actual divorce as long as possible to build up back pay. She specifically said this was her plan. I thought her ex husband deserved better so when I finally ran into him I told him. He thanked me and promised me he would never tell anyone I told him that. Well, I guess his anger got the best of him during their argument and he threw me under the bus. Now my family hates me. And I kind of hate him for throwing me under the bus like that when I was just trying to warn him of her evil plan.

His ex is my sister in law, my husbands sister….and her ex was part of our family for 5 years so I didn’t want to let him get screwed over like that but now I hate myself for telling him as he screwed me over and now I am in the shitter. He could have told her he knew about her plan without completely fucking me over in the process but oh well. My husband is extremely angry with me instead of being mad at her evil plan but it is what it is.

Now she doesn’t behave as bad as the woman you described here as far as I know but I think she used him for the green card first and now wants to continue milking him for everything he has, the father of her two kids and someone she supposedly loved at one point, it’s so sick!!!

Sorry for my little rant, but it ties into your post because if women weren’t favored in things like this I wouldn’t be in this situation but since he will be the one paying no matter what, it is what it is. This just all happened today despite me telling him like back in early October and I am hating my life right about now. 🥲

Just want to say as a man who receives child support, and I get enough to help with clothes and not much else. We are struggling even with child support while she is eating steak dinners and only watches her son every other weekend. She doesn't keep to the court order for summer visitation and makes me pay for daycare by myself and she makes double what I do. At this point I'm frustrated but the other way around. I'm not getting help and I have our son way more than we agreed to and I'm not eligible for an increase for 18 months.

2 things: The income calculation is ok to pay kore if you make more (basically have it a fix %) because the child would have benefited from that if the parents would have been together and we want the child to grow without being hungry, BUT

You are correct, courts give the child to mothers because reasons and the money for child support is most of the time improperly spent. The person that receives the money should be forced to go through a budgeting programme and the have to show that the money received are going on childcare, not booze or whatever

Very sad to hear about your friend. I really think he should get the authorities involved because it does not matter if she is willingly hurting the child or not, the fact is the child is not safe, and that is all that matters
