feminists: bullcrap arguement about genetics loading.

[–]8OBNE15ON 81 points82 points83 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Feminists disgust me.

There's only one way to root out fat chicks permanently, DON'T FUCK EM.
especially if they don't wanna be with fat dudes. ( I didn't really wanna make a long post explaining how this is kinda sarcasm, kinda joking, but you know in every joke there's a kernel of truth).

[–]UpDynamo 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've said this in my friends group and always get shit on for it. You'd be surprised how fast you get to a gym when you stop getting laid because of your body.

[–]sbp1991 -5 points-4 points-3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was quite surprised when I found out that all women are feminists to some extent.

[–]badmother 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Suspect more to do with food loading... And exercise aversion.

Feminist making rules like a child.

Like?

[–]Sly-Apple-Pie 29 points30 points31 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Ffs do i have to put an /s even when it’s so obviously sarcasm

[–]GamingDude17 13 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Through the internet and text, it’s very hard to find sarcasm. Sorry, man.

[–]CDXX_BlazeIt 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Tbf especially on this sub people get butthurt really quick.

[–]Beardie-Boi-420 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh shit sorry my guy

[–]Sly-Apple-Pie 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s cool my boi. It’s just increasingly frustrating to be sarcastic on the internet. I just find the /s to kill the sarcasm.

[–]kodeineKrazy 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Bro don't worry, I got downvoted to fuck when I said that women "can't commit domestic violence, you stupid males"

On the MENSRIGHTS sub.. Some people really just don't understand sarcasm

[–]Mindraker 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've put a sarcasm disclaimer comment in bold and all caps and still got downvoted to hell. People are idiots.

[–]kodeineKrazy 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just don't understand some. It's like the Internet is their way of life and reddit downvotes are their weapons.

Try not being allowed to have the tubes tied unless we are past our prime, have multiple children, and have permission from a husband or boyfriend.

Yes, even in Western countries.

[–]Jex117 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Specifically because of the thousands of wishy-washy women who reneged on their decisions in court. Good luck finding a doctor willing to take on your risk, frankly I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole.

There's simply no way to know which women will change their mind after the fact from the ones who won't, so most doctors simply won't risk being taken to court.

[–]naemtaken 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Get a better husband/boyfriend then?

[+]Natuurschoonheid -9 points-8 points-7 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It's not the husbands that do this. It's the doctors who enforce those rules

Imagine if those rules applied to getting a tattoo, because what if your future wife wanted a husband without tattoos?

[–]masterdarthrevan 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Just find someone who accepts you for you, tubes or no tattoos, I mean, tattoos or no tubes...error you know what I mean

[+]Natuurschoonheid -6 points-5 points-4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I completely agree. I wouldn't marry a man who would be angry at me for me being infertile.

The problem is doctors putting the wants of the woman below the wants of a hypothetical husband-who-might-want-kids.

Even if the woman's current partner doesn't want kids/the woman is lesbian/the woman suffers pain because she can't get the surgery/the woman doesn't plan to ever marry.

Surely you agree that's an issue?

[–]masterdarthrevan 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you talking about a woman who never was able to have kids or one that decided she didn't want kids and decided to get her tubes tied? If you're infertile, you can adopt, and if you're not and you don't want kids use protection. Do you need so badly ( if infertile) to have kids that are your own? (Genetically/blood) . Again find someone who accepts you for you, don't try to shoehorn someone into your life if you can't meet their expectations.

[–]naemtaken 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Do doctors really do that? Surely you'd be able to find a doctor who would do it.

[–]Natuurschoonheid 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've heard stories of women being refused over and over, while suffering daily, only being listened to by the sixth doctor, or the first female doctor they encounter. It's discouraging

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"women need to be intellectually stimulated"..... I see.

[–]chocolateraiin 22 points23 points24 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

OVERWEIGHT women can be attracted to whoever they want to be. Just like skinny guys might only like fat women.

I don't care about that but what is annoying is the delusional fantasy that they're this healthy beautiful majestic creatures. Stop lying to yourselves and everyone around you.

There is a difference between a POSITIVE attitude and a DELUSIONAL attitude.

[–]EffectivePineapple2 111 points112 points113 points 6 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

I mean, I’m of the camp that says “if you don’t have a medical issue than you’re probably just lazy and should feel ashamed” I’m called a fat-shamer, but a culture that supports obesity is never gonna go very far. No matter your gender, race, etc. you should make an effort to stay fit.

[–]LotBuilder 56 points57 points58 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I actually think you are doing a service. I’m 6’5 280 on my way to 230. Been as high as 340. People who have no filter hurt your feelings for a minute but you realize that they are saying what everyone else is thinking. There are times at night when you are bored and wanting to eat out of habit or comfort but that insult is playing in your head to you maintain discipline. People who pretend nothing is wrong are not doing anyone favors.

[–]alex73134 18 points19 points20 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You've been at 340 and on your way to 230? That's fuckin amazing, great job man!

[–]queendead2march19 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No medical issue makes fat appear from nothing. All fat people overeat.

[–]EffectivePineapple2 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, but some conditions mean you gain and retain weight really easily.

[–]CDXX_BlazeIt 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Is never gonna go very far"

They for sure do not.

[–]elebrin 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are no physical medical issues that lead to being fat that the average-intelligence person has. Mental health is a different story of course, but it doesn't matter what's wrong with you physically you can always lose weight by putting fewer calories in the mouth.

[–]crogameri 23 points24 points25 points 6 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I dont think anyone should feel supported for being obese but shaming them and calling them lazy isn't gonna help anyone.

[–]hackenschmidt 16 points17 points18 points 6 years ago* (11 children) | Copy Link

but shaming them and calling them lazy isn't gonna help anyone.

I've been hearing that for years. Now, the vast majority of adults (like 70%) are overweight and beyond. The time for mincing words and sugar coating has past. The only way you get this fat is through total apathy towards your own health. This is almost entirely a result of eating way too many calories due, primarily, to laziness.

It time to start shaming that, hard. Exercise/fitness is great and all. But as someone put it: you can't outrun a poor diet.

[–]crogameri 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Throwing a bunch of stats isn't supporting your argument, we both agree on what's the issue but disagree on the solution. Telling people "you're fat and immobile go do something with your life" constantly isn't gonna do anything to help them, the most you can do is encourage them and that's it, at some point the only thing that can make a person try to exercise, go outside and get healthier is themselves. And i seriously doubt its 70% unless you really expand the definition of overweight, otherwise can you source that?

[–]masterdarthrevan 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The National Center for Health Statistics estimates that, for 2015-2016 in the U.S., 39.8% of adults aged 20 and over were obese (including 7.6% with severe obesity) and that another 31.8% were overweight. . ..... 39.8+31.8 = 71.6%. I think we can agree that in 4 years there is bound to be some increase in that statistic. So yes maybe it's time to DO SOMETHING about ppls weights , ( both genders probably 😲)

[–]hackenschmidt 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

we both agree on what's the issue but disagree on the solution...at some point the only thing that can make a person try to exercise, go outside and get healthier is themselves

There is only one solution: stop eating so much. Period. End of story. The fundamental foundation of weight management is CICO. Exercise is a great supplement to diet and good for overall health. But its not a solution for over eating.

Telling people "you're fat and immobile go do something with your life" constantly isn't gonna do anything to help them

Honestly in my experience, thats exactly what many people need. They need people (and a society) who cares enough about them, and not their fucking feelings, to be like "This behavior and lifestyle are not acceptable. You're hurting yourself. You're hurting those around you. You need to start doing something about this right-fucking-now. Not tomorrow. Now."

And i seriously doubt its 70%...otherwise can you source that?

There are my sources that cover most 1st world countries. They all say pretty much the same thing: adults are fat as fuck.

CDC is the first one that comes up if you google obesity stats. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/obesity-overweight.htm

unless you really expand the definition of overweight..

Standard definition as far as i can tell.

  • Overweight or obesity in adults is defined as body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 25.0 based on the NHANES variable Body Mass Index. Pregnant women were excluded.
  • Obesity in adults is defined as BMI greater than or equal to 30.0, based on the NHANES variable Body Mass Index. Pregnant women were excluded.

[–]elebrin -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right, but fat people who go on diets and don't take it seriously sneak food, lie on their food log (essentially they are lying to themselves), and never make any progress. Unless you are literally tying someone down to a bed and giving them their daily calorie intake until they reach a healthy weight, you won't be able to fully control their access to food and they won't control their intake on their own.

[+]philhalo66 -7 points-6 points-5 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

its nowhere near 70% its closer to 32% for americans. he pulled that 70% out his ass.

[–]hackenschmidt 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

he pulled that 70% out his ass.

If CDC is my ass, then yes.

  • Percent of adults aged 20 and over with obesity: 39.8% (2015-2016)
  • Percent of adults aged 20 and over with overweight, including obesity: 71.6% (2015-2016)

But where does that laziness come from? I think the insane work culture of the US explains the need to make everything outside of work quick, dirty, and convenient

[–]hackenschmidt 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

But where does that laziness come from?

Its just plain old "why should I give a fuck".

The way most people approach food is basically toddler-like: People are presented food, people put all food in mouth, regardless of what or how much. People gains weight surprised pikachu.

I think the insane work culture of the US explains the need to make everything outside of work quick, dirty, and convenient

Be that as it may be, it only makes the laziness more apparent. What you eat matters a lot less than how much (although in fairness the 'what' can affect the ease of self-regulation of the 'how much') . The 'quick, dirty, and convenient' food options almost certainly have nutritional facts available, because law. So often its easier to manage some semblance of CICO with them.

Case in point: I knew a guy that lost a ton of weight a few years back. Know what he ate for 'quick and dirty': MacDonald's. record scratch Wait, what? McDonald's?! Yup. Each meal was a single Quarter Pounder Deluxe, no mayo, and a diet coke. ~550 kcal with a good amount of protein, fat, carbs and trace elements of vegetables. Sometimes he ate there 3 times a day when he didn't feel like or didn't have time to cook. However even on those days, while he's nutrition would be sub-optimal, the calorie intake was still under 1700. So he continued to run a calorie deficit and lose weight.

I'm not advocating a McDonald's diet. But pointing out that he took the time/effort to find something that he liked that also fit into his diet, and then stuck to it.

[–]pm-me-ur-cattos 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's an interesting story. Glad he was able to lose weight!

What kind of job was he working that he had no time to cook or go grocery shopping?

[–]MaikRak 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm far from supporting obesity and the joke that is the fat acceptance movement but I don't think shaming people is going to do anything but make the world more toxic

[–]Pewtyn 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

ou’re probably just lazy

..or a dumb hedonist! Eating corn sugar soaked piles of shit on a daily base creates problems that fitness cannot solve.

[–]Mindraker 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The next thing will be blaming the pandemic for their obesity.

Sorry, but no. I'm still exercising and watching what I eat, as difficult as it is. Yes, I've put on a few pounds, but I'm not gouging myself with ice cream.

[–]AmazingJAM 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Please stop reposting this shit. We've all seen it and we shouldn't care what this article says.

[–]LibertySeasonsSam 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Ya don't say...the hypocrisy should be apparent with anyone that has two brain cells that a synapse can fire between. On a side note, I think this obesity epidemic skyrocketed when we encouraged people to "snack" and eat way too many bad calories in between meals. Whatever happened to eating just two or three squares a day? And those snacks are usually junk, anyway.

[–]moria0 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Carbs are the enemy

[–]LibertySeasonsSam 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They were also supposed to be a reward, too. You remember when a sweet dessert was a treat for the end of a long day working? Now, not only can you have junk carbs at any time of the fucking day, but you are actually encouraged by the "nutrition" industry to eat dessert multiple times a day! This is ludicrous! I have to give a huge props to the sugar/food industry. They actually succeeded in convincing the majority of us that their way is the way we should be eating, even though we've never eaten like this before, neither in the amount and types of calories or in the frequency that we take them in.

[–]Attila_22 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're really not if you have an ounce of control. Also understanding what you put in your body helps a lot too. Like you're probably going to want to eat some carbs before playing in a basketball game for example.

Losing weight can be easier or harder for different people even with the same diet and exercise. People have different metabolisms. In addition to genetics some medications can effect your metabolism, I went through that. Real action definitely needs to be taken to address our public health on the issue of obesity but shaming is not going to solve the problem because much of it has to do with institutional issues of how our lives are ordered. Too much driving and not enough walking, sweetners in all the food at the store, school or work where you sit all day long, etc. Yes, we have a cultural problem of overeating and poorly balanced diet but the systematic issues are much greater than just that. It's the general nature of modern and especially American life to make people fat more often and compared to previous generations that means that today more people have to go out of their way to avoid getting or being fat instead of having to go out of their way to get or be fat. Fat shaming won't work well enough not only because a lot of the factors are biological rather than behavioral but also because a lot of them are societal instead of individual. Make a healthier society or you're basically expecting huge numbers of people to swim upstream here.

Plus size and overweight are two different things. In the same way there are new who shop at big and tall, wear xxl...but aren't overweight same applies to women's sizes.

While I agree, I'd say 1 in 100 people who claim to be plus-sized actually are. People like Shaq are plus-sized, but the girl in the photo of this thumbnail is just fat.

There is a different between being overweight and obese. It all depends on the muscle/fat ratio, not the weight/size ratio

The anti-semitism in the top left corner is an uneccesarily bad look for this repost.

noun, plural goy·im [goi-im] , goys. Usually Disparaging. a term used by a Jew to refer to someone who is not Jewish.

How the fuck is that anti-Semitic?

[–]CrushCoalMakeDiamond -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

The far-right anti-Semitic fringe lunatics do call each other and non-Jews "goy" sarcastically, but I think in this case the person just made a typo and actually meant "guys"

The anti-Semites don't even use it in context like that, they do it while impersonating Jewish caricatures rather than casually using "goys" to address a group.

When you hang around /pol/ enough you pick up on context clues and dogwhistles.

[–]pm-me-ur-cattos 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So you think going to /pol/ gives you of all people the right to lecture others on political correctness?

[–]MoroseAlsoLugubrious -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't know about political correctness, I just know my shitposting when I see it and that part about goys was almost definitely the tail end of some anti-semitic shit.
