You know those studies that show how women are worse off in marriage and men are just so much better off? What happens is these are used in the argument of not only saying women shouldn’t get married, but that men have so much more to gain than when they are single. Like being more successful, happier, healthier. The view is that these are what men turn into when they’re married, when in reality these are what men have to be already in order to get married. Most men, who have health problems, are depressed, who struggle financially, rarely even get messaged back, let alone are getting married. So of course it’s going to look like it’s marriage that’s the common denominator and therefore the reason behind these positive attributes. When more often than not it is the effect of them, not the cause.
