Feminism stops when you’re the one found out to be the abuser. So many feminist subreddits who slandered Depp back when the allegations were made are silent now. Unable to link to video but can be found on google.

It's not a punch, it's a hit. A huuuge difference /s

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That isn't a black eye! its just a love tap!

[–]mudd_cheeks 16 points17 points18 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How were her toes though?

[–]BigGuysBlitz 166 points167 points168 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

This will get pushed off to the side, as it is female on male violence. We all know that never happens after all, and if it actually did, it really must be because of something that the man did anyway, so it is always ok. I wish I could tag that line /s, but that is actually what happens.

[–]jacobrennie1510 95 points96 points97 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, even saw some comments on other posts saying “well apparently she was abused as a child, and I’m not saying that’s an excuse but it may be out of her control”.

Can guarantee if anyone made that line about Weinstein, Cosby or even Depp during the allegations they would be cancelled immediately

[–]Onithyr 30 points31 points32 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They'll take any excuse to remove women of their agency if it benefits them at the time.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being abused is not an excuse for a man. Why does that only work for women?

[–]Mackowatosc 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If she is an out of control animal, she should be put down for society's safety.

[–]jacobrennie1510 49 points50 points51 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I would also just like to add that I do believe Heard is institutionally innocent till proven guilty, as I do with any of these allegations wether it be Weinstein (I’m not too sure what evidence there is, if someone can provide solid evidence this could change my mind) or with Depp back in the day.

However after listening to the audio tapes and the circumstances surround Heard I do think she is the abuser.

This is for anyone who wants to argue, well when Depp was accused you cried innocent till proven guilty so you should do the same for Heard. If there was an audio tape with Depp detailing what he did then I would probably think he is guilty.

Yes there was the testimony where he agreed to what Heard had accused him of but looking back this seems to be due to coercion, Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

[–]VapeBlowCatipiller 10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah the entire audio is pretty damn telling. And....this is just the first in a line of video/audio tapes to be released.

[–][deleted] 56 points57 points58 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Women can’t punch, they can only hit? Weird.

Also weird are the last questions about toes. Does he have a toe fettish or something?

[–]TheOnlyNormalOneHere 49 points50 points51 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The toes was a encounter from last week he ran from her into the bathroom and was trying to hold the door closed while she was trying to break it down. She scraped her toes on the door and he stopped to she if she was ok. Shen he did she kicked the door open and kicked him the proceded to beat him against the toilet

I think she was trying to grasp at straws by arguing with semantics.

I.E hitting meaning forceful contact of any kind and punching being closed fist. Like I hit you with a bat but punch you with my closed fist. Obviously it’s the same thing (assault) she was just trying to win a tiny argument with him.

As for the toe thing I’m not too sure. Maybe one of her allegations was that he dropped something on her toes or stepped on them.

Women can’t punch, they can only hit? Weird.

That's the newspeak the sjws are trying to impose on the rest of society. Control the language, control thoughts.

[–]get-tilted 37 points38 points39 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The worst part about this whole thing is Depp probably felt he couldn’t defend himself, because the second he did Heard would go right to Twitter to her millions of followers (who are the kinda people that would’ve cancelled him)

Fucking horrible.

I DO have some hope that she’ll get what’s coming to her because she’s been playing the public support game for far too long and it’s bound to come back around and fuck her right back. But we’ll have to see what sticks...

[–]jacobrennie1510 13 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Social media trials are harsh, unjust and irresponsible. I’m just glad he’s finally getting some sort of normality back.

This also couldn’t of helped his addiction problem, even though it may of started before the abuse he must’ve felt like he needed some way to escape.

[–]KR_Blade 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

ive been hearing that petitions to get amber heard removed from aquaman 2 have been gaining alot of steam very quickly ever since #justiceforjohnnydepp started trending on social media

[–]DanteLivra 19 points20 points21 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I didn't punch you, I hit you and you're fine.

Let's see how a man would hold up with that defense.

[–]VapeBlowCatipiller 16 points17 points18 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

In the whole 60min of audio released, she calls him a baby, a pussy, a loser, etc multiple times because he walked away from a fight or when she was beating on him. She put the blame of her violence squarely on JD because when he would leave, it would make her madder causing her to beat him worse.

[–]Mythandros 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Stereotypical abuser logic.

[–]Arthuyo 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is classic abuser behavior. Blame the victim for their misdeeds.

Feminists: How dare he curse at a woman!

[–]warriorwoman96 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I thought long and hard about whether I should come in here and post this. I considered that I personally and many other women hate when men invade womens spaces to say not all men or but what about. So I seriously considered whether I should come into your space and if my voice would be welcomed here.

But what I want to say is this, we got this wrong. And I'm not to proud to admit we were wrong. While I believe women should stand against abuse, and rape, and that womens voices should be heard and taken seriously when we bring up abuse and rape, what Amber Heard did was inexcusable. Abuse is not acceptable regardless of the gender of the abuser and the abused. Its not ok for women to abuse men and its NOT ok to levy false accusations. I, like many others, dragged Depp on social media, loudly proclaiming him to be the worst kind of scum. And I was wrong. These accusations ruined his reputation, ruined his career and damaged the credibility of genuine victims.

This has been humbling and eye opening for me. Ive seen how a false accusation can spiral out of control and ruin the life of an innocent man. I'm outraged at Amber Heard for this. I think she should be cast out of Aquaman and canceled just as Depp was. While I still believe in the spirit of #believewomen I think we need to balance the intent of taking these accusations seriously against the reality that not all women are saintly angels. Some women are toxic, manipulative and liars and will levy false accusations if they believe that will benefit them.

[–]excess_inquisitivity 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

But what I want to say is this, we got this wrong.

How did you get it wrong?

While I still believe in the spirit of #believewomen

How can you avoid getting it wrong this badly or worse if you won't at least acknowledge that #believewomen should be abandoned for an expanded term to include possible male victims?

[–]warriorwoman96 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

We got it wrong by rushing to accuse Depp without all the relevant facts.

I want to point I said I believe in the SPIRIT of #believewomen which is that too often our sexual abuse and harrasment go unnoticed. But what Im starting to see here is that theres a culture of victim blaming for both genders in womens its ( we asked for it, what were we wearing, we must have done something to provoke him) for men its ( lol men cant be raped by women, how can a man be abused by a woman, or youre not a real man) and not taken seriously.

In both genders consequences seem to be light. Look at the pathetic sentence for Brock Turner caught red handed raping a woman and given 6 months and he didnt even serve that. Or the bus driver who raped a 14 yesr old girl and was let off with probation. Or in the cases of female teachers assaulting teen boys ( lol sweet what a lucky boy) and they're let off with slaps on the wrist for the rape of children

So I believe in the SPIRIT of #believewomen. However in practice we need to do better at screening the legitimate accusations from the self serving cynical false accusations. And we need to do better making sure men are protected from the kinds of abuse women inflict on men which isnt always physical but often entails the manipulation of law enforcement and legal systems.

Maybe #believevictims would be better.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I really appreciate what you’re saying, and it’s in line with a similar core belief I’ve been trying to present to people I know and encourage in thought patterns. Men are not inherently evil. Masculinity is actually inherently positive. Women are not inherently evil. Femininity is actually inherently positive. We have differences, and we have strengths, and we complement each other.

Toxic behaviour exists that has got nothing to do with gender. It’s got to do with people that haven’t been raised right. Evil people are evil, bad people do bad things, lying manipulators will lie and manipulate.

Insofar as #believewomen is about encouraging victims to speak up about sexual abuse (etc), I am totally onboard. I think though that #victimabuse is more pertinent, because of the associated exclusivity of having it gendered.
Am I detracting from female victims? Not at all.
But men need this encouragement to speak up just as much as women.
And I hope that any feminist that attempts to tell me that this is reactionary or trying to steal the spotlight gets crucified by the regular people who espouse feminism whilst in their heart of hearts truly do desire equality. Because there are definitely social pressures around that exist to make it hard for females to protect themselves -and- speak up about abusive behaviours (on this subject; that’s got nothing to do with the theory of toxic masculinity, that’s just toxic and shitty people). But no one can tell me that there aren’t also societal pressures that stop men from speaking up about abuse.

The #believewomen movement as it currently stands has appeared to demonstrate support of women speaking up against abuse. Which is great. Where it went too far is ignoring the right to legal and due process. Unfortunately people are dishonest, on both sides of the fence. But giving half of the human race the legal means to slander and crucify the other half on an accusation alone with little to no fear of repercussions and no burden of proof is -very dangerous-. Case in point, Johnny Depp. And he is far from an isolated case.

So, for now, this is what I would like to see as a bare minimum start to rectify this imbalance and injustice for -both sexes-. Sexism against one sex is sexism against both.

1.) Stop attacking people for advocating a change to domestic violence laws to be gender neutral. They don’t want to take the voice away from women, they want to give a voice to men who haven’t had one. Everyone gets a voice in this scenario.

2.) Societal attitudes need to change. This starts on a small scale. One of the biggest seeds of this is the ingrained double standards of sexuality and social faux pas. Police your friends. Call coworkers and your mates and your sisterhoods our on their shit. I don’t need to tell anyone what this is - you all know about this double standard hot mess plaguing our culture.

3.) The source of violence isn’t in testosterone or a chromosome. We are all equally as capable of it, just as we are all equally as capable of overriding our biological impulses.

If you got this far I appreciate you taking the time to read my insomnia fuelled rant. If you have any specific points of contention, please raise them below courteously and with intent to discuss, not berate. I have tried to be equitable and clear in writing this, but also being somewhat solution focussed instead of broiling in discontent.

I am likely going to pass out again shortly so if I don’t respond soon I apologisez

[–]warriorwoman96 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I was raised by a single wonderful father and my mother was a toxic narcissit alcoholic gold digger so I definetly dont believe all men are inherently evil and have seen the extremes of toxic femininity. My father has always treated women with dignity and respect and no woman had ever laid a false accusation, so I basically figured if men just treat women with respect they wouldnt be accused of harrasment, meanwhile Ive been the victim of sexual assault and harrasment. Im seeing the other side to this now though. Im seeing what happened to Depp and how easy it can be to throw that accusation. In the end everyone should feel safe from abuse.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am glad you had a positive parental figure, and I am deeply sorry you had one poor one. I can’t imagine the pain and suffering you’ve endured because it so vastly different to my own personal experiences. I see and acknowledge the hurt you have suffered.

Humbly I’d like to suggest that toxic femininity is -not- the cause? I personally believe the concept of toxic sexuality to be something that doesn’t exist. People doing abhorrent things and using gender biases to explain it is a great disservice to sexuality and people in general. Someone doing something awful shouldn’t be a reflection on their race, colour, sex or creed.
If their race, colour, sex or creed supports such action, then sure. But so far, to my understanding, race, colour and sex are all completely separate from the evils bad people inflict on others.

If every single man treated the opposite sex with dignity and respect there wouldn’t be a problem in that regard.

If every single woman treated the opposite sex with dignity and respect there wouldn’t be a problem in that regard either.

Do you see what I’m trying to say?

Treating others with dignity and respect isn’t a gender issue. It’s a social issue. Gendering the behaviour of toxic people is a disservice to everyone.

The sooner Feminism as an ideology agrees to that, the sooner all Peoples might agree that Feminism is truly about True Equality despite it’s historical and current premise as demonstrated by Feminist Movement Leaders. The “No True Scotsman” fallacy is very applicable, and I don’t mean that to degrade the people who espouse Feminism on the grounds of representing equality. It. Just. Truly. And. Irrevocably. Doesn’t. I mean it as a form of empowerment to people who claim to be feminists to overthrow the mantle of their forbearers. I do believe most feminists believe in equality and unfortunately the pushback coming from others is not an attack on equality, it’s an attack on the true premise of the movement which has been smothered by the Feminist Leaders.

In concert there are a bunch of fellow men in the Manosphere who espouse men’s rights by degrading women. Wholeheartedly, to you from me, please stop this nonsense, women are not bad or evil!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes western society is currently geared towards the benefit of women to the detriment of men. Gynocentrism is a documented and studied phenomenon and the further we move away from a society based on fundamental survival the more pronounced that becomes. Some of the most articulate and supportive peoples that are a proponent of recognising that men’s rights or lack thereof are a crucial seed to our collective suffering as a sex are women. And there are plenty of women in the feminist movement naive to the truth of the movements genesis and practices that if they were to do their research would not feel so confident to label themselves as such, case in point, Cassie Jaye, a once feminist documentarian who initially went into researching the Men’s Rights movement in order to expose the alleged misogyny but then had her own beliefs challenged over a harrowing three years.

In closing, thank you for commenting so openly. I hope you are a voice that continues to speak and be heard, both by Feminists and the Activists for the rights of Men.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Mate, this person is coming to this sub bearing an olive branch trying to mend bridges without sacrificing the need to not silence true victims. I am a stout advocate of men’s rights, and the shit I could spew onto this sub about my manipulative, toxic ex and mother of our son (whom I haven’t seen in over a year of his 2 and a half year life) would curl your hair. But I won’t, and I don’t, because that is not helpful to the cause. She is a bad person, that is without doubt and I will reaffirm that to myself every day because her gaslighting and emotional/psychological manipulation is the greatest torture I have ever experienced.

What is important is that a self proclaimed feminist has come to the men’s rights sub to engage in healthy and restorative discussion!!

REWARD THAT FOR HEAVENS SAKE.

The only way we move forward is if we start making small bridges and reinforcing them.

Just to clarify, whilst I understand the place your line of questioning is coming from, it’s not the healthy way to resolve differences.

If we want to take all the ammunition out of the mouths of devout Feminists it is super easy; we just have to be better. Stop blaming a sex. Some of the best speakers for Mens Rights are Women. And there are plenty of Men who purport to be Feminists.

I get that we are hurting and it’s easy to blame the people benefiting from a cultural and legal bias. But it is not the fault of an entire sex. It is a combination of a phenomena including gynocentrism, male disposability, and others. “I say women but you know what I mean, I mean feminist dogma” - not fucking good enough. The power of words sways nations. Speak clearly and fairly, and if you can’t do that when you are angry at injustice, remove yourself from the platform until you can speak rationally and fairly.

Feminism has been proven to be about the empowerment of women to the detriment of men. Men’s Rights Activists truly don’t want women to lose rights, we just want Men to have Rights as well. You know. Equal rights.

[–]excess_inquisitivity 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No I don't think OP gets off the hook as easily as saying, "well, i got it wrong in this case by believing this woman, but #believewomen".

It's entirely healthy to ask someone to address the fact that their bad decisions were reached (at least in part) because they used bad premises or bad logic.

[–]warriorwoman96 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well I did say perhaps we should look at changing it to #believevictims and that we need to do better in screening the false accusations like this one from the legitimate ones which are still a problem. And that we need to do a better job of protecting men from abuse from women which is often more emotional and manipulative.

Yes I admit Johnny Depp getting dragged was a result of people jumping to conclusions and rushing to believe a convenient narrative. It's something I am going to do better about in the future and will encourage other women against as well.

Everyone should feel safe. Everyone should feel empowered.

[–]excess_inquisitivity 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think I made the comment above before you added #believevictims, but i could be incorrect about that.

And that we need to do a better job of protecting men from abuse from women which is often more emotional and manipulative.

Stating this brings you much closer.

[–]warriorwoman96 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure I am a feminist anymore. 2 years ago definitely but lately... I'm not so sure.

I believe in girl power, I believe in equality and I believe women should be treated with respect. Lately though I'm seeing another side to feminism I dont like.

I do believe in the empowerment of women but not at the expense of men. I kinda see at as Wonder Woman the movie vs Last Jedi.

In Wonder woman we are given a strong woman as a lead surrounded by men, who help her teach her and contribute to the movie in meaningful ways. At no point did the movie detract from the men to empower their woman lead. Men played an important and Vital role alongside Diana.

In the Last Jedi all the men were torn down to build up the women in the movie. They were all portrayed as fools, (Poe, Finn) broken bitter people (Still cant forgive what they did to Luke) or space Nazis. Thats not the kind of empowerment I'm looking for. I dont want to live in a world where women are strong because men are weak. That's not real strength.

Thing is if Feminists were to see what I just commented I would be accused of internalizing misogyny. So I have my doubts about the modern feminist movement. Yes I want equality and empowerment and representation, but NOT at the cost of dis-empowering men.

Does that make sense?

[–]romulusnr 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dis some fuckin gaslighting 101

[–]shoetreemoon 12 points13 points14 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I hope nobody is surprised about this. The media has back the narrative that men are always wrong; and the media certainly won't recant when disproven. Women in relationships have a higher rate of infidelity, instigators of violence and many other attributes that after spending a few hours watching TV you realize is never accurately portrayed in the media or television.

It's is so incredibly discouraging. I've given up, honestly. My solution has been to avoid any interaction with women the past few years (after being falsely accused and losing my job). I want nothing to do with them. I'd rather die alone than expose myself to the sort of attitudes that apparently everyone thinks is okay except for those of us who support each other against the lies and diatribe.

I've found a lot of comfort in this forum, so thank you. But, I don't think I'll ever have any faith that things will change. It's horrible out there.

[–]jacobrennie1510 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Genuinely so sorry for what you’ve been through man.

I know things will most likely not change that much however everything has to start somewhere and hopefully this is the case that puts men on an equal footing to women regarding allegations or at least starts the movement

[–]z770i1 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Why did JD ask about her toes? I'm curious on that part.

[–]VapeBlowCatipiller 21 points22 points23 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He asks about her toes because during one of the past domestic violence incidents he went into the hotel bathroom to get away from her because she was throwing stuff at him . She eventually talked him out so they could 'talk about it". However when he unlocked the door and started to open it she kicked the door which slammed him in the face. He then shut it again but it caught her toes. It's one of her examples she used of how he abused her by 'slaming her toes with a door'.

Thanks. Got confused there.

I’m not too sure. Possible was one of her allegations that he dropped something on her toes. I remember hearing about him smashing a plate. But I’m not too sure.

The audio from that was rough to listen to. I've had that exact conversation, gaslighting over the tiniest details followed by personal/ego attacks when the gaslighting doesn't work.

I'm sure there's toxic behavior on both sides, but even just in that one exchange, she clearly crossed the line from toxicity to outright abuse.

What about her toes??

There’s another comment saying it was about a time where she was trying to hold the bathroom door open while he was inside and broke it down then proceeded to beat him beside he toilets

[–]ColorYouClingTo 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He was trying to get away from her by hiding in the bathroom, and she was knocking on the door. When he went to open it, it scraped her toes. He then bent down to look and see if her foot was okay, and that's when she kicked the door into his head. He said he was pretty sure she kicked it into his face. She said she only pushed it open and didn't mean to hit him in the face. Anyway, when he stood up, she pushed the door all the way open and punched him in the face. She admitted to that part.

Well she has a vagina, so...

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Where is this from?

[–]jacobrennie1510 15 points16 points17 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The daily mail released the audio tapes. I’m aware the daily mail might not be the most reliable however you can clearly hear Depp’s and Heard’s voices.

If you google ‘Johnny Depp and Amber heard’ audio tapes then you’ll get the video, I just couldn’t link it here.

I like the DM! I just haven't seen this transcript before and thought it was odd that there was a transcript of what would have been a private conversation.

[–]jacobrennie1510 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This transcript is only around 20 seconds of the entire thing but it is probably the most important part of the conversation.

As to why it was recorded I’ve read it was an informal therapy session that Heard recorded on her phone and Depp somehow got ahold of it or he himself was recording. This was subsequently leaked to the DM and released hence why the whole drama is trending again.

I think she’s just bisexual. Here ex girlfriend gave a testimony about heard being abusive to her

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So his accuser was actually the one who was violent? Crazy.

[–]RowdyRonnyGriper 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I read over a decade ago (b4 Depp met her) that she is a lesbian who preys on men.

[–]pandorasboxxy 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel so bad for JD, being in an abusive relationship like this is fucking hell, and my ex wife did the same thing, then tried to turn around and say I was abusive. Women like this should be exiled to an island to be cunts to each other.

[–]ThePunnerHimself 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly, the people who still stand behind her are equally disgustin saying things like ”she said he was a monster tho!!!” “Don’t forget he has a history of doing this!” “What about her story, even though he has proof and hers is just acting?!??”

[–]Lui_Le_Diamond 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Does it matter? Hit, or punch, injured or not, it's violence is violence, and unless it's in defense and necessary, it's immoral and terrible.

Why is Depp asking about her toes?

And why is that my biggest question?

[–]Slightlybiggerboi 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What did he mean when he said "how are your toes?"

[–]sethekow5 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is NEVER okay to hit a woman.

It is okay to hit a man though, apparently.

[–]HgeanKidNebula 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just hope that since someone like Johnny Depp has been proven to be a victim of domestic violence, people will finally start caring about the misandrist bias in laws and courts. I hear and read so many stories about men getting the short end of the stick in court and law, even if the man reported domestic violence against him first or there's no evidence of the man being guilty, and it just makes me sad, and not enough people seem to care.

Toes?

[–]Nether7 -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Apparently she scrapped her toes on the bathroom door before she kicked it open and proceeded to beat him against the toilet

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Bahahaha....then he asks

[–]Nether7 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's a way of bringing it up and having evidence against her while not being aggressive.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely, it's still priceless.
