Note: the point of this post is not to pass judgement on immmigration being 'good' or 'bad'. This post is about how the right wing's discourse surrounding immigration is often built on the pillars of misandry and gynocentrism.

Anybody else noticed that the right wing's shortcut to getting people scared about immigration is using the term "fighting age males"? They rarely miss an opportunity to talk about how many illegal immigrants are "fighting age males". It's obvious that that is only a repeated description because they know misandry towards middle age/young men is common and acceptable in western society. This hurts white men too - it reinforces the idea that there's something inherently more untrustworthy about men.

The right wing approach towards immigration discourse is just so predictable. So often throughout history when there's been racial/ethnic tension, people have looked to demonise the men of the opposite group. Think of how Jewish and black male sexuality has been demonised at times as being such a threat to the most important precious people on earth, white women. "Won't anybody think of the women" is the way you drum up passion from your cause because people actually do tend to care about protecting women. Try drumming up support for a general issue by saying "won't anybody think of the men" - see how much passion that stokes from the general public.
