I don't know why people can't get the basic concept of innocent until proven guilty

A lot of people don't have a standard for actual evidence. They will simply judge / have an opinion on what is presented and not think deeper than that. But they sure will have an opinion/judgement on it.

People need to understand the difference between taking someone seriously and dismissing them. I can take someone seriously when they come to me about rape claims but that doesn't mean I arrest the other person.

I’ve noticed people want immediate action against the accused, but due process takes time. I really don’t get why more and more people seem to oppose due process and innocent until proven guilty. It’s a big problem.

Related, I find it so interesting that many people who didn’t witness an alleged event think they know better than a jury. I know what I see in the news isn’t the whole story and isn’t objective. I know a jury gets more complete information, presented more fairly. I trust their objectivity more than media. I really don’t get people who protest a jury our court decision when said people have no special knowledge of the facts.

There’s more and more pressure to take action against people based on unproven allegations, MeToo for example and that’s troubling. It’s essentially vigilante justice. Let the system and due process do it’s job.

Until they get caught up in the judicial system most people have no clue about it.

They just do not get it, especially when they watch crime dramas on tv where it is all neatly wrapped up at the end of each episode.

If they implement this in the legal system, and the police/judge actually internalize 'believe the victim', this means you believe what the victim says. The corollary is that you must disbelieve whoever the 'victim' says is guilty.

You must start off, before the investigation even starts, by being biased.

It's the same with handcuffs, everyone automatically thinks you're some kind of criminal or the worst scum on earth because police puts handcuffs on you. It's a safety procedure because some people get violent when arrested, it has nothing to do if you did something or not.

What adds salt to the wound of being accused of a crime that you have not committed is to have your name and photo splashed on newspapers and other media. Many people say things like 'There is no smoke without fire.' And once your name / face is out there the damage cannot be reversed even if you are found innocent.

I am in Europe and I was speaking to a German man who showed surprise that our newspapers mention the names of people charged with a crime but which the constitution considers still innocent. He told me that in Germany names are not published.

And anyway what use is there is making public the name of an ordinary citizen who is accused of a crime?

The problem is that feminism, most women and even some men lack the concept of 'innocent man'. Many of these people also lack the concept of 'guilty woman'.

People get emotional when they feel like they could have been victims. I think we all agree innocent until proven guilty is important but people often forget it when someone is found not guilty.

Look at all the people calling for blood in this case when the women were never found guilty of anything.

Look at all the people that want This woman to pay even though she has never been convicted of a crime.

People see something they don't like and start demanding punishments as an emotional response but convictions need to come first.

They get it, they just ignore it when it suits them. Take for example the woman accusing Pedo Joe of raping her -- suddenly, a man IS innocent until proven guilty!

The legal concept to which you’re referring—the presumption of innocence—means only that the government needs to prove the accused’s guilt in criminal proceedings. Consider this as contrasted with presumed guilt. A system with presumed guilt would see far more convictions, as the burden of proving innocence falls on the accused.

Again, this applies only to the government in criminal proceedings, but is the cornerstone of American jurispridence. Individuals can believe whatever they like about whatever they hear.

People are not encouraged to have standarts.

In old times morals was administrated via religion. No matter how dumb you are, you alvays had some basic laws of society put on you. Like default settings of security.

In modern days, there are no distinct universal social ideology of any kind, that could do this. So people are either create their own standarts,or neither at all.

In short, a lot of people alvays were "dumb",it is just now we see and hear them.

Most people live with the assumption that cops dont lie. They believe wholeheartedly that there was evidence beyond a shadow of doubt. They've never had the police falsely accuse them or a loved one of a criminal act, therefore they believe everything because they haven't been subjected to being railroaded for a crime they didn't commit. The first rule is to error on the side of caution. If you THINK someone is guilty but the evidence doesn't prove it, you're supposed to find them not guilty. Rather than thinking they're guilty and convicting them based on circumstantial evidence . People should really educate themselves better.
