Hey there, I'm posting because I am unable to voice my frustration anywhere else. When the topic of circumcision was brought up between my girlfriend and I, she reacted quite unfavorably. I opened up and told her how insecure it made me about my penis, and how when I realized what my parents had done to me I harbored resentment towards them for some time.

She told me she hated the look of an uncut penis (which I'm totally fine with, everyone has opinions) but then she took it a step further and berated me and put me down because I "hated my parents for cutting off a piece of skin." I almost blew up. It's not just a piece of skin, it was my individuality, my right to choose. I never gave consent, how could I? I was an infant! She gave me the usual bullshit about how "it would be gross and smelly" as if I'm not intelligent enough to clean under a fold of skin. The fact that she chose to insult and put me down instead of comfort me made me extremely upset.

Then when I told her that if we ever had a boy, he was not going to get cut unless it was absolutely necessary (skin too tight to pull down, painful skin issues, etc) she told me he would 100% be getting cut because she was "the one that is birthing the child". Excuse me, but are you a male? Do you have a penis? No? Then why do you think that you know what it was like to have that taken away from you?

Fuck, I'm sorry guys, I just don't know where to put this. If this break sub-reddit rules I'm sorry, I just need some advice.
