This metric is unfaslifyable: It can mean incidences went down or it can mean reports went down and if reports go up, it could mean reports went up or incidences went up!

What they don't tell you is that according to stats canada ALL crimes in general went down by 10-12% over the same period. Be it fraud, theft, assaults or rape.

What they fail to mention is that Vancouver had 73 rapes last year. They have a population of 166k so about 1 rape per 2,250 people. But because they have so few rapes a fluctuation of a few people reporting or not reporting can drastically change the statistics. In any given year the rape report rape of Vancouver fluctuates. I remember reading that it in 2011 it went back up 8%. Also what they fail to mention is that the posters were also posted outside of Vancouver and some of those cities saw an increase in rape reports. But of course they are not going to publish that because then it shows that the posters have a negative effect.

The Vancouver numbers she's referring to are from 2011 and yes, there's been plenty of doubt cast on them. That she's dragging out the Vancouver numbers in reference to the Edmonton campaign only serves to undermine her argument more.

The gist of it is, correlation doesn't imply causation and these numbers fluctuate all on their own. But it's also possible that rather than reducing the number of incidents, the campaign took feminist's focus away from encouraging more women to report.

There was a good takedown of this claim posted a while ago where it showed that the reduction in rape was clearly not due to these posters but I don't know where it is.

Clearly these statistics are just as reliable as every other feminist rape statistic.

Correlation =/= causation. What did they do to confirm the posters are the reason why...ask every guy "were you previously going to rape someone and if so, did seeing a poster telling you not to be a rapist make you change your mind?".
