I've been thinking about this for a while, but have been debating whether or not it's a bit too controversial to discuss. But, I've been drinking, so fuck it.

You know how we complain about men not being allowed to do certain things, like cry, or be a loser? You know how feminists say that's a feminine trait and that it's REALLY just misogyny because society hates feminine traits? Yeah, all of that's bullshit...on both sides.

It's not about it being feminine...it's about it being a matter of weakness. Historically, we have tolerated weakness in children and women. Children for obvious reasons, and women because they're physically smaller than us (usually). We don't tolerate that shit in other guys though. If a guy is weak, he's considered to be pretty shitty. And you know what? I don't think that's such a bad thing.

I look at a guy crying and I think to myself "man the fuck up". And hey, I'm an MRA. I know how fucked up that phrase can be...but I still think it. And I'm pretty (hyper?) sensitive to some of this shit...so why am I thinking that, despite knowing how fucked up it can be? That got me wondering, and I realized it's not always about gender...sometimes it's about not being a weak little bitch. The same goes for the word "bitch" BTW. We say "man up" when someone is displaying weakness...weakness we thing they shouldn't display.

Anyway, the next time a feminist tries to turn some MRA issue into some convoluted form of misogyny, remind them that it's not about femininity...it's about weakness.

P.S. could we maybe stop encouraging said weakness? I don't want to live in a world where EVERYONE is a whiny little bitch. I want to live in a world where everyone handles their shit. I want to live in a world where strength is encouraged for everyone...not just the physical or emotional kind, but strength of character.

I think all of us needs to think about the strength weakness thing. I mean, I know not everyone is strong, and those of us who are stronger should protect those who are weaker. And I don't think that should be delineated by age or gender. At the same time, I kind of feel like those that are weaker, and depending on the strength of other should be at least grateful for the strong protecting them.

I'm not copyediting this, and I'll probably regret that the next time I log in, but fuck it.

I want women and men to both be strong. I want the strong among us to protect the weak, regardless of their gender. But also, I don't want the weak to be encouraged to be weak. I don't think that's good and I don't think I'd like the world that would bring. I'm concerned we may sometimes encourage weakness in the MRM. I see some stuff that makes me shake my head (aside from some of the crazy hate-mongering from the crazies who don't give a fuck about the actual MRA issues). I fucking love you guys. I want this shit to work out. Please don't fuck it up.

And to the feminists who may be reading this that got all pissy when I mentioned feminists earlier. Look, if you legitimately support men and women being held to the same standard, I don't have a problem with you. I know shit can get heated in this gender shit, and I disagree with the fundamentals of your ideology, but if you're actually about real equality then shit, your heart's in the right place. So don't take that shit as an attack on you personally.
