I'm sixty one and have spent a great deal of my life in male only environments. From what I've seen men aren't inclined to talk about women or relationships much at all.

have any of you experienced the locker room talk that's portrayed in the media?

Rarely. It's a good example of women projecting their own group behaviour onto men.

Much of the discourse about men is from women femsplaining what men are like.

The idea of asking and listen to men never occurred to them.

I know the kind of talk that they mean though. That's the kind of talk that I often heard from "Chads" in highschool. The guys that girls drooled over and who were always dating a different girl every month, tended to talk in a crude and a crass manner that I never cared for.

I don't think most women really understand what most men talk about in the locker room. For me it was usually whatever sport I was involved with. If I knew a guy well, and trusted him enough, I might tell him who I had a crush on.

The most locker room talk I've experienced are just introductions and jokes on their workouts and injuries.

I think it is the sort of chatter that happens with teenagers. On the rare occasion ive heard someone in a group dynamic talk that way as an adult, everyone else tends to shoot that shit right down.

I've heard it - not often though. Like most things women complain about "men" in general doing, only 1% of men actually do these things.

well i dont really talk about dirty about guys with my girlfriends, other than oh he had a nice body or hes cute. and i think men mostly talk about it like that too. tbh never understood the fuss about it, its different when someone calls women bitches hoes, suck this dick ur worthless and like - she had a nice ass. its totally irrelevant to todays problems

No. The kind of "locker room talk" they portray only really happened when I was passing a blunt and or bottle around with the boys in the woods. Not in a locker room. Come to think of it, people really didn't like to shoot the shit in the locker room at all really. People just wanted to get changed and get out of there really.

I think the idea that it takes place in locker rooms is probably from '80s movies or something, but between my feminist days where I tried to discipline my locker room talk and now where I have some close friends I do it with without restriction, I'd say I have a much healthier mental state from not repressing thoughts and can relate with women better because I no longer put them on a pedestal. Most people do this kind of thing in ways that are fine -- men and women both engage in this kind of talk, and it allows them to see more sides of how they feel about other people while allowing exploring sexual desires that are often by their nature crass. If a woman from a dating site you saw recently has a nice ass, and you have a close friend, it's just fun to talk about smashing it and mentally prepares you for a masculine sexual role that she most likely would enjoy.

Uhhh the "locker room talk" was the defense the right used to justify Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women.
