In the movie This Film Is Not Yet Rated, they compare movies in which guys masturbate to when girls masturbate. Movies with a scene involving a girl masturbating got schlicked with an NC-17 while similar scenes involving guys weren't slapped with the higher rating.

Next time you hear someone talk about male masturbation in a derogatory way, correct them. I've done it on many occasions now, and more often than not they end up re-evaluating their position.

We all jack off occasionally, so why the negative stereotype? Why do women get to have all the fun while we give each other shit?

Example.

Naked woman in a public place raising awareness to whatever is the cool hogshit of the day. = SEXY.

To be honest, I'm female and I masturbate to the thought of men masturbating. I wish male masturbation were more widely accepted as sexy, because I'd have an easier time finding suitable porn or talking my boyfriend into masturbating for me.

However, I'm turned off by the idea of sex toys (regardless of the gender they're intended for) because they make what would seem spontaneous and animalistic appear contrived.

I think its because most guys are straight, and most straight guys in the US have been taught to be disgusted by male on male sexuality, which masturbation falls under (strangely..but it kinda does). Its this whole idea of manliness, like to be manly you can't be sensual or enjoy your own body or another man's - whereas to be manly you're encouraged to enjoy the sensuality of women. Its also the idea that if you're using a toy to jerk it you must not be able to get a woman....again linked to ideas of manlyness and male ego.

Its not like this in all cultures, most of southern Europe is much more accepting of male sensuality, and enjoy the beauty of the male body much more openly than puritanical US culture allows for.

Any sexual act for a man is seen that way. It's the inherent missandry of our culture. Women are not the oppressed, men are. That is clear by the way men are subject to harassment and derogatory sentiment by feminists and mainstream culture.

It's the same attitude now for men that there probably was against women who used toys. It's insulting and infuriating that suddenly you're replaceable-- reduced to a plastic phallus. And it has settings.

It's only a double standard if you consider the present and ignore the past. Women went through it. Probably worse I hate to say. A man might just be ridiculed and dismissed where before women were met with serious hatred and disgust. Because of course any man would offer himself up to a horny woman especially since those opportunities are generally so few for many. If women were as horny as men and lusted exactly the same way, but men were more reserved and conservative about sex-- having sex with a toy wouldn't just be laughable-- it would be an outrage. But instead in these days, it's just fodder for negative male stereotypes.
