This year in my school we have a gender studies course. At fist I presumed it would be about men and women and gender equality, however I was wrong.
The first few classes focused on gender stereotyping (for men and women) and multiple debates. But as the lessons rolled on, my teacher (female) decided to hold another debate on whether we agreed or disagreed on the fact that "empowering women prevents climate change."
Me and many others disagreed with the point claiming that climate change and empowering women had nothing in common but our teacher insisted they did and produced a book about it which had very little sources to back up its points. We then watched a Ted talk on the matter which had some decent points put personally I couldn't take it seriously as the female speaker couldn't resist making a few negative comments towards men.
During the time attending these classes our teacher has held every lesson focusing on women and girls and even said at one point "this class is all about women and girls", which made my think about the name of the class "gender studies". Finally our teacher said we would be doing a project on gender studies. She wrote up some ideas for projects such as "quotes from feminists" and "empowering women and girls". Then she gave us a sheet "to give us ideas for our project" which had multiple facts about women and climate change, none about men.
With my project due tomorrow I'm glad to say that it is on the topic of Men's rights activists.
EDIT: Sorry for misunderstanding, project is due today. I have written 3 full pages filled with legit facts, many taken from sources from this thread, so thank you!
