My sister is a nursery nurse in a large hospital, she's told me about too many circs gone wrong, she herself is against them whereas most of the other nurses are on the circ bandwagon. The main issue in the US here is the $, the hospital she says charges the insurance company $1500-1800 for the circ that is usually a five-minute procedure unless something goes wrong.

So many of the oop's are hushed up, bandaged up and sent home only to become apparent later, or the baby is readmitted due to bleeding days later because they were cut way too deep and the wound opened up again and the parents rightfully freaked out. Most pediatricians are not gonna tell the parents, " oh yeah your son got a butcher job". No, instead they are gonna reassure the parents that it was done right and that their baby is/ will be fine. The last thing the pediatrician will want to do is rock the hospital/doctor boat and all the politics involved with their livelihood/practice and all the money they still owe in school bills.

If the general public knew about every oops, they'd never allow anyone to come near their precious little baby boys with a knife. For what, just to look like his dad or the hygiene myth??
