Just to be clear, this was not satire. It was a real letter and was covered by real, mainstream media.

At one point, 100+ students gathered on campus to support her. They tried to recast her message, but never claimed it was satire.

The referenced artical is over a year old. Seems like it was an unsuccessful initiative. From a quick search it appears the logo hasn't been changed.

This is an old story but yeah, its pretty silly.

The argument was that the new logo resembled "Insanity Wolf" - an internet meme which some people have subtitled with rape jokes (e.g. "Its Not Rape, Its Strangers With Benefits!").

Apparently, the slight potential resemblance can somehow result in "empowering rape culture"... apparently.

This girl's complaints were lumped with several others into a title 9 lawsuit against the college which was ultimately settled out of court since it was generating a lot of bad publicity for the school. The girl who wrote this article got 25k as part of the settlement.

Listen, if a man in any way makes a woman uncomfortable, scratch that, anything, inanimate object, man, dog, anything, makes a woman feel a negative emotion; this is key, my friends, the feelings, it's all that matter, apparently, as the world is read; if that happens, the woman has been raped.

Now, if a woman admits to molesting her kid sister for over a decade in order to sell more books with juicy details; and calls some sex she had with this one dude this one time, which she later regretted, rape; then it's simply someone experimenting, because that's how she feels. The dude raped her, she did not rape her sister.

Again:

1)logo, eye contact, sex she later regrets, talking in public - rape, at least creepy

2)molesting your kid sister for over a decade - just experimentation, you go girl!

It's about feelings. It is not about logic. You can't argue with feelings. I'm not saying anything should happen to that chick, but the double standard is insane. I hope you guys realize how bad this is getting...

I currently go to UConn and this happened last year when we changed our logo from the more 'friendly' Jonathan to the 'rapey' Jonathan. The girl who wrote that got a TON of backlash on social media and around campus.
