You'll find that, despite what people say about this sub, people here don't want to limit a woman's right to choose. The issue comes when men are not only not extended the same right but when people, including women, actively fight against extending them that right. Given this information, why would you suggest we protect the reproductive rights of the "haves" while being the "have nots"?

[–]fengpi 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I have always been pro-choice, for a number of reasons, and I find the arguments on the pro-life side to be both manipulative and lacking merit.

That being said, feminists have made it adequately clear that they think that men ought to have no say in the reproductive process whatsoever, telling even pro-choice men that they ought to keep their fucking man-mouths shut and keep their stupid man-opinions to themselves because this is a woman's issue (medical ethics being irrelevant, apparently) so whatever a man might think (even his agreement) is simply outrageous and ought to be shut-down. That, and they have dogmatically mismanaged things to the point that their stance is now an anti-majoritarian one. Plus, there is dishonesty on their side as well: I remember one particularly humorous episode where, when a bill banning IDX abortion came before congress in the Bush II years, the head of NOW went on TV to make a passionate appeal on the importance of keeping IDX abortion available but then pretended to not really know what the procedure was.

Anyway feminists have told me they don't want my fucking stupid pro-choice male assistance on this matter, so I'll let them fight their own battles. Tra la la la...

This isn't going to survive an hour into the first federal court it comes across.

I would have removed it, but since there are comments, I'll leave it.

Other mods may differ.

Thanks. I know this doesnt directly relate to men but I think its a chance to show of some that supprt for women that we are constantly told we do have.

(And its no worde than the 500 "OMGBBQWTFIGOTBANNEDFROMAREDDIT!!!!" posts we get a week.)

[–]TibsKirk 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I think that this is relevant to the MRM. If we want to fight for a financial opt-out or other reproductive rights for men, then we need to be on the front-lines fighting to preserve a woman's right to choose. We can make some allies here.

[–]Trunk-Monkey 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Once upon a time I would have agreed. These days I feel more like women need to be men's allies before expecting us to support their fight... after all, they are fighting for a right that they don't want men to have.

[–]Shubrook 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I strongly disagree. In the current political climate, you are just wasting your energy. They will take it and never, ever give you legal surrender.

By taking abortion off the table and forcing women to live like men, it can later be renegotiated - so long as men get the ability to opt out, too.

Exactly!!!

[–]Leinadro[S] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Okay I know this doesnt directly affect men but I have to say this is bullshit. Personally Im pro choice and dont like the idea of banning abortions once a heartbeat is detected. What say you all?

[–]xNOM 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Personally Im pro choice

I actually don't really care anymore. I used to. But now it's more like "not my problem."

[–]Leinadro[S] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I understand feeling that way but at this point Im just thinking that at the very least no one can say I dont care about womens reproductive rights.

[–]zulu127 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

How can anyone care when you're told by so many that 'you have no right to comment on this...this is a women's issue.'

edit: just read this. A man got fired for having an opinion about abortion.

he had no right to an opinion on the subject of abortion because he was a man.

[–]Shubrook 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They will say it anyways, so who cares? Fuck em.
