Did you know that teachers automatically peg the boys as troublemakers and favor the girls more? Fucking idiots.

Is it bad I do the opposite? My reaction when I run into a female service member
"Yay! An other girl!.... Oh no.. An other girl to drag me into her drama... I'll probably be paired with her for EVERYTHING and anything she does will be associated to me.. Fuck."

yes
[–]Whiskeybandit67 39 points40 points41 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Not having a sister I did 100% of the chores.
Is that time weighted, task weighted? Is 2 hours cutting grass equal to setting the table every day?
[–]Alzael 31 points32 points33 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
No. I've seen the stats on it. It's because they only measured cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
“because these are both the most disliked domestic labour activities and the most traditionally feminine” and therefore “most resistant to change.”

So, translation, "girls do 40% more chores if you ignore the chores boys do."
[–]Alzael 19 points20 points21 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Essentially, yes.

Of course they did. Apparently me chopping wood and shoveling fucking snow doesn't count as labor, after all, some girl I never met had to cook and clean! I also did the cooking and cleaning, but apparently we only break even to "equal" if I do substantially more work than them.
[–]JoeBender1 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not to mention the snow shoveling/ ice removal.
[–]SantaOrange 24 points25 points26 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Christ, as if boys don't have enough to worry about. They're falling way behind in school, they are being drugged on Ritalin, they are being taught that their sex is "toxic", and you want to heap further abuse on them?
This is what happens when you have tens (hundreds?) of thousands of idiots whose "job" is to search for sexism against females. Feminism is now an industry, not an "equality" movement. And that's assuming this stat is even accurate. Something tells me that like most feminist "studies" they are fudging the numbers.

Cindy: "Mom, can I help you bake a cake?"
Parents: "OK, but only if you finished your homework."
Cindy: "Yay!"
Survey analysis results: Subjugation of the lower class. Inhuman treatment of women.
Parents: "Billy, go take out the trash, mow the lawn and clean your room."
Billy: "Fiiiiiiiine...geez..."
Survey analysis results: Just boys being boys, playing outside getting fresh air while the girl toils inside. Patriarchy at it's most brutal.
100% of chores in this family done by the girl.

It's easy to paint women as oppressed when you simply lie about the reality of things!
[–]agentx216 11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So boys are more productive with their time? Not really telling us much here, random poster

I don't see a narrative here. Nope. This is certainly peer reviewed, scientifically proven research, just like the 1,392,245,379,452,739,361 genders there are.

1,392,245,379,452,739,362! Get it right you cis pig!

[–]Deipnoseophist 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Lol, cause this study was probably conducted with a giant selection of one family.
Internet stats doing its thang.
[–]JTcolt408 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I've seen this stat before, and if it's based on the same study it's complete bogus. The only chores they count as chores are the ones that women tend to do, i.e. Cooking, cleaning, etc. They decided not to count working on cars, home maintenance, yard work, and things of that nature because those jobs are "enjoyable" and don't count. The study was intentionally flawed to produce the results they want.
[–]feedmecarrots 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I guess they are going to say anything that women will be inclined to believe. Truth is relative.

My niece sits there and whines and fusses, and drags her feet the whole time she has to do dishes, and takes about 4x as long as it should take to get them done. I wonder if that might have something to do with it?
[–]UNLIKELYME 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A feminist "fact". Never believe them.
[–]Swiss_Cheese9797 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Cuz they care more. Do you know about the gun cleaning gap? Young men are doing 100% of the cleaning of their own guns.
[–]robbedmeofmyideas 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
And what about the suicide and homicide gap? Seriously that's my go to for ending any feminist debate. On the other hand I do my best to stay out of feminist.debates so I can't really say how well it works.
[–]boringcarpets 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
How did they work that out? And where is this, in their parents homes? Who is making the girls do more, could it possibly be the one that runs the home... ie mostly the mother?
[–]fireguy7 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There needs to be a campaign about the work death gap. How men suffer 90% of work place deaths. Let's close that gap ladies!
[–]Mrcuntycuntface 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My wife definitely did more of the chores out of her and her 2 brothers growing up, although it was her mum giving her the chores. Explain that!
[–]UNLIKELYME 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Single women do more chores than single men on average. I'm pretty sure it's the same for many girls and boys.
But why do women - and girls in likelihood - want their rooms cleaner and tidier? Is this trait a sign of discrimination or oppression or just something that comes more naturally to girls than to boys?
[–]Mhblea 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
First off, I don't know what kind of situation you'd be talking about with single men vs single women. For both parties it would be 100% of the chores, please correct me if I'm wrong.
And speaking from experience, I've lived with/dated many a woman who has been waaaaaay messier than me. Now I've lived with some pretty messy guy roommates too, but I've seen more tidy guys than gals without a doubt.
[–]UNLIKELYME -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It's been studied. Actually it's not that difficult to find out how many hours each people do chores. And, yes, you are wrong.
[–]Mhblea 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well thanks for the proof there chief.
Also, your first comment indicated women do more chores overall, whereas now you're saying women spend more time doing chores, so I'm thoroughly confused on where you're getting this info or if you're just spouting bullshit.
And on the topic of how many chores vs how long spent doing them, people in similar living situations should have the same number of chores regardless of sex unless we live in some crazy alternate dimension where women have to take the trash out twice or something. And if women spend more time on those set number of chores, all that means is that men are faster at doing them.
[–]UNLIKELYME 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sorry to say but you sound like an annoying troll ... everybody should know that different people, for example, clean their houses differently. Some use a lot of time and have a clean house, some use no time and have a messy house. Furthermore every western country has statistics on the time use where you can check how much more single woman compared to single men spend time on chores in your country.
[–]Ascendant-Dickwaffle 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I honestly think the female mind is more fixated on cleanliness. To the point that they are more likely, though not always, to be obsessed. Its not so much that men are slobs, its that we have less of an instinct to take precise control of our external environment. There are guys who are cleanfreaks but a lot of them learned it, they are often military guys or were boy scouts in my experience.
This isn't scientific but I wonder if its some sort of "nesting instinct", where they are trying to create a safer environment for offspring.
Further there is a lot of projection going on when people say men do less housework and are demanding their women do it. If women got fed up and stopped doing so much housework, most men wouldn't be "taught a lesson" because they wouldn't even notice. Its like the whole spending all that money for the barber to do absolutely nothing to her hair thing.
[–]UNLIKELYME 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, women spend many times more on "tidying up" themselves, buying makeup, all kinds of lotions, shampoos and what not.
[–]_exitus_acta_probat_3 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Right, because mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, taking out the trash, and helping Dad do pretty much everything Dad does around the house and property aren't chores, much like women dont consider all Dad does around the house as work, but everything women do is considered work.
[–]barneyiller 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
40% more time spent doesn't mean they have more work or harder jobs, it just points out that they're not as good at working as the boys are
I call bullshit without a study. Even with a study, I'd likely still call bullshit because it will almost be guaranteed to be rife with methodological errors and straight up fabrication to reach a desired result. Much like the one in four myth.
