If you're going into tech, especially software, the need is there. In my experience, and I do plenty of hiring, there are plenty of positions available and you won't see a high level of discrimination. Once you get a job expect to be treated like shit (by HR) for being a white male, but at least you'll have a job. Someone else posted an article that described HR departments as "a feminized antifa", which I 100% agree with.

For something like tech, engineering, or nursing yes.

Law, medical doctor, and performing arts are terrible industries for us. These industries often prioritize diversity and the cost of entry is extremely high.

Especially law is almost completely worthless these days. Unless the middle class guy in question has high class connections, he should stick to trades or something.

Only for accounting and engineering. No shame in going to trade school. As no one is willing to do blue collar work, but everyone wants standards of living, you'll earn a fortune in the trades. After learning a valuable skill and working in the field for some time, you can be your own boss.

Almost everything people get degrees for could be taught as on the job Training. There's no reason for most people to go to college these days.

Electrician, masonry, custom home remodel, plumber... These can all be started at the bottom, quickly learned over a few years. Get your license, your truck and tools and in about the same time as a decent uni education, you'll be earning over 100k. Get a couple workers and build your rep. 10 yrs on you'll be grossing 200k or more.

You are generalising too much.

Is the degree you want to get useful or not? The engineering degree doesn't hold the same value as social science degree.

Do you wan't to work in a trade or office? If you don't mind working in a trade there is a lot of good options where you can outearn 80% college educated people.

If you are going to college, chose a usefull degree and if you aren't, then chose a good trade. People doing important jobs will always be needed.

A distance degree is a good option, if, and only if, you have the self discipline to do it. If you do, the savings in terms of relocation, attendance in classes, cost and the amount of crap you have to put up with are enormous. Attendance based degrees, except when there is no alternative, as in medicine, are for people who need to be chaperoned through things.

I think we as individuals should allways focus on bettering ourselfs. Sometimes that comes by taking time to reflect, relax, do some hobbies... but also work. If you can get a job that pays you well so you can better your own life economically without an education? WELL DONE! You saved yourself x years in school.

But for most of us, a bachelors is probably a good idea
