I think a lot of women like the idea, but would not like the reality, of these men. And it's purely sexual, they're the thrilling, dangerous guys who aren't actually dangerous because it's make believe.

I guess the male equivalent is the 'femme fatale', Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct. Which wouldn't have been such a hit if that was starring Dorothy from Golden Girls would it.

It's a fantasy and wish fulfillment.The idea of losing control and being unsure what's going to happen next can be arousing. Normal people usually don't date super hot looking people. Normal people aren't insanely loaded. Also normal people have other things to do than being obsessed with once person and catering to their needs all the time.

Probably because women are stalked 400 percent more often than men and women are significantly more likely to be killed by an acquaintance.

So women find that a lot less appealing on screen.

That said, "You" on Netflix did very very well and is now into its 4th season.
