It takes longer than 9 months to have a trial, conviction, and appeal for rape. So as much as it is the right thing to do and as much as it sounds good on paper, it just isn’t a practical exception.

I support abortion being across the board legalized. I have given it a ton of thought.

How are cases 1 and 2 demonstrated at the time of abortion? If a police report is all that is necessary, we will see a skyrocketing number of false rape claims. If a conviction is necessary, that can take years. If all it takes is telling the doctor that a rape happened, then that's no different than no restriction whatsoever. I am, of course, assuming we will continue to fail to prosecute for false allegations of rape.

For case 3, some genetic disabilities don't appear until later in the pregnancy. It's possible that the pregnancy is perfectly viable but the child has birth defects that present after 28 weeks. In these cases, abortion is in my mind absolutely necessary. We don't need to be bringing people into the world who cannot contribute.

I don't like abortion. If I found out that someone in my family had an abortion to simply stay selfish... well, I'd have opinions. My wife and I have taken measures to ensure that doesn't happen and there are plenty of ways to ensure you don't have children for both men and women.

I also think that men should offer to support open abortion policies to women only so long as we also get financial abortion or paternal surrender in the process. They can have my support but they need to prove to me that they will also support me and what I need for me to support them. That's how it works.

Babies have been born and survived at 22 weeks. I'm pro choice but I'm very uncomfortable with aborting when the baby has a chance of surviving outside the womb. Abortions up until birth when a healthy baby is essentially fully developed are abhorrent and akin to murder in my eyes.

It's hard to gauge when a fetus develops "personhood" but I think this is where we should draw the line. Imo this is somewhere between the 12-18 week period. I don't think abortions should be allowed before then.

Also, if we actually want to reduce abortions we should support families with kids who need help. Free food, subsidised housing, adequate free healthcare, free schooling and school supplies, free clothing. The state should help with all of these things. And yeah, stop forcing dads who never wanted to be parents to pay for kids they didn't agree to have.

I agree with you, except for the 28 weeks gestation is way to long. It shouldn't take someone 28 weeks to find out they're poor and can't afford the kid, they wanna go to college, or they don't want a child.

I think a heart beat law or first trimester law with the exception of medical reasons (risk to the mother, birth deformity, etc.) is fair. With heartbeat or first trimester allows enough time for the "I want to go to college" "I don't want a kid" "I'm poor" or whatever reason.

No normal woman chooses to abort after 3 months. After that it is generally based on health issues. Ie: there is something going wrong with the pregnancy. This whole late term abortion debate is stupid. People who claim not to have known that they were pregnant until 8 months are obese or just stupid. (These people are usually found on TLC or MTV channel)

If you want to reduce abortion, educate your kids about sex, and birth control in an age appropriate and realistic manner.

I disagree for rape/incest. If you acknowledge that the fetus is a human life, you cannot then decide it deserves to be killed because the father of that child is a criminal. Why should that innocent life pay for the sins of their father? There should be mechanisms for the mother to easily give that child to someone willing to raise them if they don't want to.

I will have to disagree. Thanks to abortion ban, the whore culture might finally come to an end. Nowadays beeing a literal slut, whether on only fans or strip cluh is normalized and even glorified. Feminists talk about how beeing a slut is empowering, essentialy incentivizing women to become whores. The bigger the body count of the woman, the less attractive she is to a man, because a woman with a high body count wont make a strong emotional bond with you and will cheat on you. And since whores have high body count, men dont want to enter relationships with them. By telling women to become whores we sentence them to a lonely life. And if a lot of women become whores, then men will have difficulty finding someone who isnt a slut. Both men and women are at loss due to whore culture

I feel 20-24 weeks is the better deadline. Any kind of blood/gene related diseases can be diagnosed at that point, as given in a report by my government but if you're pregnant because you fucking could not wear a condom then you deserve a child with no child support

Yeah... "Abortion until birth" is at least as extreme a position as "its murder any time after conception".

Personally I would be fine with banning it somewhere in the 12-24 week range. Once it's possible for the baby to live outside the womb (25 weeks or so I believe) doctors should make every attempt to save the babies life even if ending the pregnancy is required to save the mother (as long as they don’t put the mother’s life in danger).

I'd actually set the date at 20 weeks myself. And I consider myself quite pro choice.

It's peculiar that so many people on the left take the extremes on this position. Almost every abortion statistically occurs well before the third trimester, and 90% occur even before 12 weeks gestation in nations with high gross national income per capita.

So, it's disconcerting how much nuance gets tossed out the window in the abortion debates. It's almost as if people on the left don't ideally believe in those extreme positions, but they nevertheless really want to hear and repeat those extreme positions.

Maybe it's because those on the religious right do believe in an absurd extreme - the personhood of a clump of cells - and so the left has learned to try to push as hard as they can in the opposite direction. Just my best guess, I could be wrong.

Yea I’d say this reasonable. By month 4-5 you should probably already know if you’re pregnant or not. Of course this is the weakest and will always be superseded by the first two. I would also work in someway to note the financial status as well. If the financial situation becomes dire at week 29 or something, unless the cost of carrying to term and placing in Foster care will be equivalent, which in my opinion it should, then it may still be a necessary evil. Above all though, WE NEED BETTER SEX EDUCATION FOR FUCKS SAKE. We wouldn’t have so many abortions if the same radicals that push to fully outlaw it didn’t also want there to be basically no sex education
