So I have a girlfriend, she is great, we pick at each other a lot. She can't really embarrass me so she just slaps my arm lightly or bites me playfully in response to my teasing which is usually just being annoying in some way. This isn't a problem at all. The problem is that everyone sees me being annoying, says something about me "treating her right", and when I say "Yeah well she (insert her response to my silliness here) they respond with "Yeah well, you deserve it." even to the point of one of my parent's friend saying "Kick his ass [name of girlfriend]."

It pisses me off to no end when people say this kind of shit, it makes me want to explode at them! What if my girlfriend was actually abusive, where do they draw the lines between what I deserve and what I don't? Why do I deserve it? I know I wouldn't/don't and it's utter bullshit for them to say that, but I just wish people would think, just fucking think about some of this shit. Ranting over...

EDIT: Here is a bit of information I found out today, friends of my parents situation. Apparently the kids from the husband's first marriage were staying with their mother since she just moved to the state, fun times right? No, they were staying in a motel for the weekend...going to a homeless shelter on Monday. She moved here with no job, house, or anything lined up. The Kicker? She is going to try and hold him in contempt for not letting her see the kids.
