Thoughts on this study? Are most even straight women more attracted to hot women than average men?

I mean rating someone as 'sexually attractive' could also be sort of ambiguous.

women are repelled by average men. at worst they feel indifferent to average women

Do you think our society/media has sexualised women to the point it makes them more bisexual?

[–]nineteenletterslong_ 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

no

Self reported... Hardly a study.

Womens sexuality is way more fluid than mens.

So they keep telling us, but I feel a lot of it is culture. Maybe in some ways, but men's is a lot more fluid than allowed. In most cultures male bisexuality seems commoner.

[–]Angryasfk -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Commoner than heterosexuality or commoner than female bisexuality?

[–]TheNamelessComposer[S] -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Commoner than female, but in some cases commoner than male heterosexuality. Pure homosexuality is actually a lot rarer than male or female bisexuality.

What defines the some cases?

[–]TheNamelessComposer[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In some cases it was the norm for most or all men in a community to engage in homo as well as heterosexual behaviour.

Thing is men like women more than women like men

[–]BoreDominated 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Self reported, so men might be less likely to admit to it. Or I could be wrong.

[–]TheNamelessComposer[S] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Apparently they gazed longer at the more attractive male models.

I think most people will naturally look more at whats attractive regardless of orientation/attraction. Doesn't mean they want to sleep with them. I think many women are more comfortable rating other women as attractive/sexy too.

I wonder if these studies work cross-culturally or if the effect is stronger in more (openly) misandric societies. We know that women's preferences are partially social and partially genetic but that the social environment effects women more strongly than men (though men can still easily be conditioned, think of how high heels are portrayed as "feminine and attractive" despite originally being a masculine piece of clothing).

PHub trends also suggest that this is strong in the West but not strong in other places, even former Socialist countries where gender equality has been the norm for over a century, so I'd guess that institutional misandry makes the average man less attractive to most women.

'Lesbian' is the most popular porn category for women in most western countries. A lot of women say it focuses more on female pleasure, hetero porn is rough, misogynistic, more about male pleasure. Plus the fetishization of lesbianism began in the West in the 90s but really 70s with porn (think the film series Emanuelle if you're aware of it). Then many researchers point to biological/evolutionary explanations while ignoring the huge socio-cultural factors. Even in the US male bisexuality exceeded female until the 90s, despite the greater stigma.

I do think female homosexuality in some cases is indeed more tied to social-political issues than male too. It is possible female sexuality is less 'directed' than male, allowing mostly straight women to reject men and turn to women (how often do you hear of men turning to men cos they're sick of women?).

I heard somewhere that birthcontrol pills can change womens sexual preferences.

[–]TheNamelessComposer[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In what way? I did read one reddit user say going off birth control made her more interested in men visually. Maybe that's part of it?

Women's bodies are built for the ascetic. Men's bodies are built for function. That's how evolution worked. The men who were the better hunter/gather got to reproduce. The woman who looked the best got to reproduce.

I mean you can ask a lady that has she kissed her female friend and you usually receive a yes or in some she will actually show by kissing one

But ask a guy the same ,if guy is like me ,better ready to receive a fo ,or Rko depending on how you asked

In some mild men ,you will receive a eww or no ,unless that guy is a gay

At this point ,it is not even about man is average or not

Do heteromen notice the sexy/attractiveness of other men? I’d like to see those honest answers. I don’t think I would be surprised either way

[–]TheNamelessComposer[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can appreciate it, certainly, but I'm generally aroused/romantically attracted by women.

[–]denisc9918 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've never found any man even remotely sexy or attractive. I can see features and/or traits in men that women would find both tho.

For 5ish years all my male friends were gay so opportunities were endless, just never interested.
