Divorce seems like a horrible experience, especially for the breadwinner/higher-earner (still mostly men). Yet, a surprising number of people re-marry after a divorce.

I think about Alec Baldwin - his description of the suffering in family court sounds genuine. Yet only a few years afterwards he re-married and had seven children, creating an un-mitigatable legal risk

What makes these people re-marry? Is it that their divorce experiences are not as negative (possible considering that most divorces do not go to trial so while the outcome is negative at least it's not protracted) or that they just need marriage so strongly?
