That’s a huge part of the problem. The odds a false accuser will suffer any notable consequence is unlikely. In my opinion someone who falsely accuses another person should face the same punishment the falsely accused faced.

False accusation of assault, sexual or otherwise. It's just one of the tools in the toolbox used by women to take down someone who has become an adversary. The toolkit has a common modus operandi - organise society against the enemy, while you stand there looking as though butter wouldn't melt in your mouth. Get others to do your dirty work for you. This has developed over eons, due to the sexual dimorphism of the 'weaker' sex. It's a much safer strategy, much less risk of personal harm and injury to the accuser. And, it hides in plain sight throughout society, all the way from the woman at work spreading false, malicious gossip about you behind your back, because she sees you as a threat to her next promotion... right up to the woman who is content to see her lies put an innocent man behind bars. It's an interesting word 'cunning'. There's definitely a female root in there, somewhere.....

Unfortunately the issue is false accusations are usually only proven by the woman admitting that she lied, which would never happen if she might face jail time. Not to mention it might make actual victims afraid to press charges.

This isn’t part of the problem, it IS the problem, people who do this type of shit (regardless of gender) rarely ever get held accountable for it, and if they somehow do the consequences for them are so little that they may as well have gotten away with it. Meanwhile if the victim of the false allegations can’t defend themselves from said allegations, their life is ruined behind repair and in some cases they go to prison for a long time.
