At least in the form of racism, which is disadvantageous to blacks, yes.

However, I completely disagree with the term "privilege". There is no institutional law that favors whites.

The bulk and primary cause of black's problems come from things like poverty, single motherhood, and etc. While not in the same numbers, whites can be subject to the same problems, and be even in worse conditions than blacks.

Privilege in our society has much more to do with money than it does to do with skin color.

On a global scale, on average, whites are in a far better position than anyone else in pretty much every aspect. That's primarily because we still reap the benefits from being the first to have the industrialization and the social structures that were established in that time and developed from there.

That is privilege. I'm better off than 80% or 90% of mankind, and that is only because I was born in Central Europe, and not because of anything I did or accomplished.

That being said, the big thing is not that I'm white. It's the culture and structures white people established. Anyone growing up in that culture absorbs its benefits and as a result is privileged.

Blacks growing up in and/or accepting European culture and values can become president. Blacks who never got the chance to do that or reject it because it comes from whites will have a harder time getting off the street.

Why are East Asian countries catching up so fats and even overtaking Europe in a lot of ways? Because it was demonstrated very shamefully to them how European culture is superior in a lot of ways, and they westernized, often far too eagerly and blindly and brutally, but they adapted and incorporated the lessons we learned into their societies, and for the most part they are better off for it, and now we are learning from them as much as they learned from us.

But a Muslim that lives in central Europe and refuses to be part of the society and culture here, rejecting the very aspects and teachings that give us our privileges and advantages, that guy will not have those advantages and privileges to the same extent. Not because he is brown, but because he doesn't want to accept that those advantages also come at the cost of having to give up on some precious personal notions and believes.

Of course. It's of the kind something can be done with so it's perhaps the least dangerous privilege if you don't make a distinction between a privilege and an advantage not given to you by others.

It depends on what you mean by "privilege"... Laws that favour whites over other blacks? None that I know of, but there might be. Favouring of whites in the application of laws? Yes, it would seem so. Social treatment? Yes, whites have some advantages.

So, what it all boils down to is: How do you define privilege?

I do think it exists, but I prefer to think of it the opposite way Framing it as "white privilege" places it as something that whites need to give up, when it reality these "white privileges" (like, for example, noit having to worry about being pulled opver for "driving while black") are things that all people should have. The answer isn't to treat whites as shitty as blacks and other minorities are being treated, but to fix that problem so minorities aren't being treated that way in the first place.

And, frankly, the dynamic between races is profoundly different than what exists between genders. I don't believe for a second that "black privilege" exists (in regards to whites anyway, a case could possibly be made that black people are privileged over other minorities in some ways) But "privilege" between men and women is bi-directional. Both have some advantages, both have some disadvantages (and framing "female privilege" as "benevolent sexism" is just stupid.)

Kindof, law wise no; but there can be on a personal basis ie. cops pull over minorities slightly more but I've noticed a lot is self harm done by certain individuals in some communities eg I've seen a black person screaming at the cops saying they are racists for arresting them when they have done something illegal.

Whites are in the majority, and people generally have an own-race preference in terms of picking jobs, social situations, and many other practices, so, yes, I believe non-whites are discriminated a great deal in America.

But in some other cultures, I'm sure the reverse is true.

White privilege is as ridiculous a concept as male privilege. There is no such thing. Even if we chalked up every example given as discrimination, people treating minorities like assholes does not mean everyone they don't treat that way is "privileged." It just means they're assholes. They're not treating white people, above and beyond, better than minorities. They're just treating minorities poorly (and that's assuming everything ever is chalked up to discrimination). Not only is it circular logic, it confuses correlation with causation.
