We’ve all seen this data, and I know I’ve already started to internalize it.

If the narrative is that single women are happiest then why would we encourage men/boys to try and marry someone who’s constantly being barraged with messages that they’d be happier without you? Compounded with the fact that 70% of divorces are initiated by women, this seems like a clear trap set out to lead to mutual unhappiness over time.

Is it because if we stop encouraging the men to pursue commitment with women the marriage and relationship market collapses as a whole?

I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that the data doesn’t show that married (childless or not) men are actually happier, and that the truth is much more empty. That commitment to a single person is a recipe for disaster, especially in heterosexual relationships. And that marriage is indeed a racket.

I’m sure there are better ways to word it.
