I’ve noticed it and chosen not to let it affect how I behave. I'm an old Gen-Xer and have seen how feminism and women have changed over nearly 60 years. From what I’ve seen of civilizations on the edge of collapse, rudeness is one of the tale tell signs. So I’m polite unless physically pushed. Even if insulted I’m polite because what they think of me matters little, what I think of myself and of them, matters much more. You should see their reactions, I open the door, they get offended, I smile and say, “Hay a nice day, ma'am.” And walk away smiling. Mostly they stop and watch for a second, offended that I wasn’t bothered. I figure doing that shows them their (offended picachu face!) reaction doesn’t have the power they think it does.

Do not associate being polite to being apologetic all the time. While being polite is your goodwill but being apologetic can land you in a serious trouble. Most people see apology as an admission of guilt. Quit saying sorry and never admit to be a contributor to a mistake that you haven't committed.

Best I’ve gathered is most women are just waiting for someone to knock them down a peg or two and treat them like they aren’t on a pedestal. It’s like it triggers something in them and they think that guy won’t take shit from anyone. Alpha type, good potential mate for her to reproduce wirh. This shit really gets in the weeds with animalistic behaviors that lend themselves to the survival of the species. Women can also smell when a male has a complimentary immune system and would lead to healthy offspring. Really wild stuff.

I’ve an adopted a rule that if the woman appears to be younger than me, zero chivalrous treatment. Literally none. If she seems to be the same age or older, I’ll hold a door open, etc. The older ones at least will say thank you. The younger ones. Ha. They walk right through the door like you’re their servant. Not anymore. They can open the door on their own.

This is what I've noticed as a 49 year old male. Hold the door open for a man - 90% of the time I get a thanks. Hold a door open for a woman - 90% of the time they say nothing.

I quit holding doors open for women.

I was waiting for an elevator a few years ago and said good evening to a random woman who came to take the elevator too, we lived in the same residence. She was all like "No it’s not a good evening, f you, I don’t need no man". Oooookkkkkk

Here is a story from last week:

I don't know if I should attribute this to being a woman or not but I had a delivery sent to a local office for me to pick up, I went there neither too early nor too late of working hours.

Went in and introduced myself, properly giving the information they need for the order etc.

The woman behind the screen ~her 20-30s maybe was typing all the time and didn't even acknowledge me or my greeting.

After an uncomfortable 1 minute I asked if there was a problem with the order and she angrily snapped at me asking me to repeat what I had just said which signaled she was doing something else the entire time.

I of course did, since I wanted my order, and just took it afterwards - didn't feel like saying goodbye or anything since it was hardly the best customer experience.

I then thought about it later and attributed it to either some problem with work or w/e but ye it was hardly excusable.

Or maybe I'm just too old fashioned? Maybe manners and social etiquette are dead

I was polite and cordial to a young lady, maybe in her 30s a couple years ago in a check out line. She shot me the one of the mastiest looks I've ever seen from a woman. Still let her go in front of me. Sure enough as she gathered her bags...which were completely over packed...BOTH of them broke 1 after the other. As she's scrambling to pick her stuff up off the floor she gives meva glance as if I was going to offer to help her. I just smirked, stepped over her stuff and left. Had she been appreciative I absolutely would have, but since she wanted to be a bitch, pick your own shit up.
