Women being tougher on how they rate men on Tinder and other such social media platforms is consistent with hypergamy.

Women overall want to date up which goes hand in hand with being very critical regarding a man’s suitability. Of course the sex ratios on platforms like Tinder increase their ability to do so.

I also think women more than men are quick to publicly compliment other people of their own sex, only to be critical privately.

I'm bi, I think there are more good looking men out there. Plenty of women do make up and surgeries, not a fan of that look.

Put simply: If every girl is hot, then they are hot.
If they were honest about the average women, they'd have to be honest about being average themselves.

To put it simply, women just aren't nearly as attracted to men as women are to men. Everyone, men and women included, think most men are ugly.

First off, society didn't build beauty standards off of availability of sex, evolution did. The relative pickiness of women compared to men is a natural evolutionary pressure that originates in the role women traditionally play as part of a couple. Mating with an unsuitable man could be much more disastrous in ancient civilizations than it would be for a man to mate with an unsuitable woman. At least until we created cultures and laws that balanced out the risk and responsibility. But the psychological development that created women's pickiness for their partners developed over millions of years, and the systems that protect them are relatively new in comparison, so there hasn't been time to lose those instincts. Furthermore, there has been no pressure to lose those instincts. Men will still couple with women who are picky about their mates, so the instinct never gets disinclined in the gene pool.

Secondly, the relative difference in reaction from women to attractive men vs attractive women is a socialized reaction. When women feel safe, they actually will have quite strong reactions to seeing an attractive man. But they learn not to have those openly strong reactions because they can face really negative reactions to expressing romantic or sexual interest in someone. Comparatively, it is socially encouraged for women to be vocally supportive of other women's attractiveness, though this is usually more to support women who are less attractive. That way the group lifts itself up, and they all benefit.

Women are attracted to attractive men. They just may not find the same men attractive as you do, or may not express it as vocally as you might expect due to social norms and how safe they feel doing so in a given social situation.

Well... There is a reason.... Males traditionally do not wear makeup nowadays, neither do they care about style, hair-care etc.

This is all about who you're surrounded with. Depending on the demographic of people you're around.

Where I was raised, it was rare to meet an attractive woman. Most were obese, masculine, terrible hair, terrible attitude, dressed like clowns or like dudes.

It wasn't til I moved to California/LA for a bit that I started to see a wide range of really pretty women. I'm straight but I noticed that for the gay guy scene, lots of men were considered attractive as well.

So, this idea that women are more god looking isa social myth.

Because women get hair care, skincare, makeup, eyebrow waxing, and plastic surgery to make themselves more attractive. Men usually don't. So lots of women look artificially attractive

What I would say in my experience of women is how you act and behave and have a much bigger difference in how they rate your attractiveness.

IRL a mid guy could punch a lot higher through making a women laugh or just having a nice personality.

This is part of the problem with online dating though you can’t get that across easily in just a few images.

I honestly think it's because men's reproductive success isn't as heavily tied to good looks as it tends to be for women. Women evolved to be physically attractive, to attract men, where men evolved to be useful, to attract women.

A man could be tall strong or rich, but not conventionally attractive, and generally not have any issues unless they look like sloth or something. Women will almost always have a hard time dating if their face looks like a man's.

I think Because it's true. An average woman spends significantly more time on beauty, skincare & cosmetics compared to an average man. That has results obviously. But it will hopefully change within a couple of decades as men have started to realize pretty privilege is a real thing & it applies to men as well.

I think girls are more comfortable being energetic around other girls. I definitely feel that way at least. As for the question "Are there more good looking women than men?", I think that's possible. I've never really thought about it before but I think I pass more unattractive guys in public than girls but maybe I'm wrong. This is subjective anyway.
