Be careful - I know that in certain states once you live together for a specific amount of time the woman will have the same rights as if you married her.

You need to put your location. If you are anywhere in the United States, though, that’s not going to work. If her name is on the lease, she has just as much right to be there as you. The best you could do is sublet to her on a month to month, though I strongly doubt your landlord would permit that. Even there, you would have to give one month notice of lease termination and the eviction process if she doesn’t leave after the one month notice.

Doesn't really work that way. Either she lives with you or she's a (temporary) visitor. Most leases have very strict limits on this (<3 nights/mo). Once someone is living there, the only legal way to force them out is formal eviction.

Just a guess, I would assume whatever rights she has in law will still stand no matter what an agreement says. So in the event of a dispute it would mean nothing.

Why do you want her to move in? You don't seem to trust her to behave decently in the event of a split and I'm not being unkind here, but is this a good basis for a long term relationship? Would you want to move in with her on this footing, cos I wouldn't. Maybe you need to choose what you really want and stick with that, be really honest with yourself (and her)

Let's say you don't add her to the lease, and have a contact that states she'll move out if you decide. Now let's add a breakup that goes bad in a few months. She call the cops and said you abused her, you get locked up. Next day find a restraining order and now you can't go back to your place. Now your forced to pay rent at 2 places. See how no matter what you do, you can still lose. Now decide if you want her to move in still. knowing you have very little rights, you must be sure you want to take a chance on her living with you. While id say the majority wouldn't do this, there is still the chance. Just be very cautious who you let live with you

There is no paperwork that can save you from a woman. No matter how its agreed upon she can simply claim she felt "pressured" later and suddenly your contract/agreement means nothing.

If you really want to cohabitate, get an apartment with a door in between that is technically 2 apartments. Problem solved.

Well one thing I can tell you for absolute certainty is if she agreed to pay half the rent, she's not going to pay half the rent.

Just about any guy I can tell you how this goes. She pays half the rent the first month. Month two she has unexpected expenses and can only cover a little over the rent, but "will pay you back". By the end of the 3rd or 4th month she's contributing nothing and you're the bad guy if you bring it up because she contributes to the relationship in so many other ways.

Talk to a lawyer and cover all of your basis but you seem to know what your boundaries are and she does too. The minute she crosses those is the minute you need to luck her the fuck out... Also... Be careful. This doesn't protect you from getting cheated on.
