TRP would probably say at least two things:

Guys are aiming to be among that 7.4% and TRP is a framework to get there.
Marriage is one thing, fucking is another. What would these numbers look like for all the other types of interactions prior to marriage?

Shocking...

The biggest group marry within a year of their own age - 33%

The next biggest group marry a similar age (less than 3 years difference) - 20.4%

Approx 14% of men marry women older than themselves.

Approx 8% of men marry women over 10 years younger.

25% vs 6% for being 4-9 years older.

This ratio is changing rapidly as women realize there's no stigma with marrying younger men.

I've seen this before and it's all pretty much what I would have expected. It's in direct opposition to what TRP claims.

So 67% of men are married to women less than four years younger than they are? Am I reading that right? I personally don't find that surprising at all. Most people tend to hang around their own age groups. School is a popular place for people to meet, as is church where they often have groups for people of certain ages. I'm almost surprised I ended up marrying a man my own age since I usually went for much older, but I'm glad it worked out that way because I'm much less likely to be a young-ish widow.

They fit my worldview, but I can't help but ponder how many of those wives- older or younger- have left a sad trail of perfectly good friendzoned men in their wake :(

They're total BS. There is no way that only 7.4 of men are 10+ years older than their wives. All the fit 40+ year old men I know are dating 18-20 year olds. This is feminist propaganda.

An 80yo man married an 80 yo woman 60 years ago when they were both 20. So what? This data includes marriages from generations ago. Marriage 60 years ago is very different from what it is now. Marriage 60 years ago for a man means getting married at 20 to a woman that was 20, a virgin, a good housewife, and is almost guaranteed to not divorce you. Marriage now mean marrying at 30 to a 30 year old woman that has been spending the last decade and a half getting used up by other men, and the chances of getting divorced is a coin toss.
